Cheesy and too many quips sometimes in the writing but an addictive read and also some very spicy content.

Finished this book in 2 days (while on a vacation) and stayed up on a short flight just so that I can finish reading the book which says a lot. I didn’t enjoy 2 of other Emily Henry’s books that I read this year but surprisingly I really liked this one. I loved the character building (and development) of both Miles and Daphne (especially her) who had just lost their partners because they cheated on each other.. I wasn’t expecting to like such a messy and chaotic storyline but it was really easy to follow! I quickly found myself rooting for Daphne and Miles who got into the fake dating trope just to get back at their exes. Loved their chemistry (but thought they fell in love with each other a bit too fast, too convenient). Also loved the fact that Daphne is a cute lil librarian who takes a lot of pride in her work, whereas Miles is described to be everyone’s best friends in the town they’re based in.

The story focuses more on Daphne’s background and problems (with her absent dad and her figuring out who she really is without her ex), so Miles’ background kinda took a backseat. Thought that there could have been more focus on the exes Peter and Petra as well, to really tease out how horrible and insufferable they were (and why they did what they did).

Overall still a good read! I might have to give Emily Henry another chance.

So far this is my favourite book by this author!

I’m a sucker for fake dating. And what a great meet cute. But also there were several times my jaw dropped or I literally laughed out loud so I feel it’s a feel good story.

I might just be emotionally vulnerable right now (immediately post-break up) but this was so so sweet and heartwarming.

Miles is such a sweetheart, I'm obsessed with his characterization. Almost wish it had been dual pov so we could've gotten a bit more insight into his actions and feelings for Daphne. Speaking of Daphne, she was an okay character. To be honest she doesn't stand out to me much from other Emily Henry main characters. But I still liked her and I thought Miles and Daphne worked well with each other.

Plot and premise wise this book was funny, well thought out, and paced almost perfectly. I do wish we got a little bit more towards the end, I think the conflict resolution would have benefitted from being just a bit longer also
I saw another comment suggest that seeing Daphne actually reject a job offer would've been really satisfying and I completely agree.
