A prince finds his knight in shining armor

Muy cute :)

Yeah, I cried.

My three-year-old has spent a lot of time with people who are gay and definitely knows that some kids have two moms or two dads. Still, when we read this book she was surprised that the prince and knight get married. She was like, "But a prince has to marry a princess." And then I was shocked and was like, "But you know sometimes two men marry each other." And then she was like, "But not in PRINCESS STORIES!" Hoo boy. We clearly need more diverse "princess stories" in our life. The only other LGBTQ one I can think of is [b:King and King|446761|King and King|Linda de Haan|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1347376191s/446761.jpg|435460].

I am so excited for Elsa to have a girlfriend in Frozen 2. Please make that happen.

This was a gorgeously illustrated, lovely story. It has a sweet YA plot of a Prince searching for a Princess. Unable to find what he's looking for, he learns his home has been beset by a dragon and returns to save his people. Enter a strong, strapping knight to help save the day. Working together, the Prince and the knight capture the dragon, save the kingdom...and find love.

Utterly swoony story. Perfect for any age. I loved the supportive parents not even questioning his choice of partner, and how there were no labels used. It's completely inclusive with a perfect HEA...and a sequel I can't wait to read.

For: readers looking for a book that discusses LGBTQ+ characters with a fairy tale romance.

Possible red flags: LGBTQ+ representation; characters in peril.
