The artwork and character designs are absolutely stunning. I'm all misty after reading this lovely little book.
The weakness in this book is the text--NOT the story (cute story, with fitting illustrations and a nice message--it started a conversation in our house at story time), but the TEXT itself is dreadful (*note: I see that many other reviewers agree with me on this...nice to know that I'm not crazy!).
While I don't mind rhyming picture books (in fact, I enjoy many of them), it doesn't work here. The lines of text were so long, as if the author was trying to fit in as many words as possible before slamming that ending rhyme on there. If this had NOT been a rhyming book, it would've gotten more stars from me.

When I first saw this book, I very much wanted to read it. There are not very many fairy tales that do not focus on the stereotypical princess and her dashing knight.
The titular prince after meeting prospective princess brides decides he is "looking for something specials in a partner by my side." It doesn't focus on the politics of male/male vs. male/female; it is about finding a love that fits with you, no matter who they happen to be.
Some of the meters of the verses seem a bit forced and don't quite flow smoothly (but never did the course of true love). But overall, a much welcomed, and dare I say needed, addition to the catalog of fairy tales. Long live, and love, the Prince & Knight.

Not only is it beautifully illustrated, but it is a charming story about a prince finding his true love.
Beautiful illustrations for a very cute story. Occasionally the rhyming feels a bit forced but overall, it’s a good book.
