Listen, this is one of the cutest books I've ever read. The art is beautiful and the message is perfect. There's no shaming or diminishing of anyone in this book. I wish I had this book or one like it when I was a child. I love it so so much.
I need a 300+ pages romance fantasy novel of this.
The art is gorgeous and the story is adorable. I particularly love the fact that it's all so positive.
I'm not much of a fan of romantic fairy tales any longer (romance novels, OTOH...) but if your kid likes them, this is a good one to replace (or supplement) the heteronormative ones!
This is so cute! I love the rhythm of the words - would be great for storytime!
Beautiful art - I really like the qualities of light in the illustrations - but the love story happened so fast. Is that how it usually is with picture books? I don't know. It just seemed a little quick.
Read this with my five year old who is partial to princesses. After the prince finds HIS knight in shining armor, she asked why it wasn’t a princess. Such a good opportunity to have that discussion as we are still conditioning our kids with heterosexual-only romances. Some people will have a problem with the openly LGBTQ theme but I thought it was lovely and so sweetly done.
While it may not have been among my favorite books on its own merits, it gets extra credit for branching out. The rhymes were a little heavy and the illustrations were good if not great.
