Audio

Dual POV
Closed door romance
Honestly I love dual actors for audio books but please please, when in the females pov still let the man say his lines and vice versa. It would flow so much better.
For me just okay. Cutesy journalism couple.

I haven't always been kind to this authors female leads, but this book is excellent, the characters are engaging, fully accurate depiction of what it's like to be the child of a narcissistic parent, and a believable enemies to lovers romance.

Cute! But the investigative journalism dragged on a bit.

imgonnagetyouback !!!! and delicate by taylor swift

I ate this book up like i will always love rival writers but secretly in love with each other trope!!! wes and nadine’s tension was INSANE like i can feel it through the pages when they bickered. i love their banter especially with wes’s sarcasm!!!

“who knew being long-term enemies with someone made you think about them endlessly?”

the dual pov delivered in this one bc we got to see wes PINING for nadine !!! giving poetic yearning in wes’s pov!! nadine’s narration was also funny and relatable.

even though wes and nadine are rivals, they understand each other in a way no one else does!! also I applaud their communication especially when they discussed their trust issues that manifested from their rivalry with each other - this discussion also led to strengthen their connection and develop their relationship

a huge aspect of the book was the characters’ family dynamics which gave a lot of insight to both nadine and wes’s personalities. seeing more of the characters’ home life gave us a better understanding to their characters and later on, their growth. for example, nadine is described as an ice queen at work however, she’s just very closed off bc of her recent stalking experience which also led her parents to becoming more worried for her thus her rigidness. we get to see her grow out of her fears as well as her parents’ watchful grasp. for wes, he has a self-sacrificing personality where he cares more about his family way before himself. this also happens at work where he’s become passive with whatever his bosses demand of him even tho its not what he wants to do. we get to see him stand up against his toxic mother and live life for his own.

since this book is set in the journalism world, I appreciate the author for including the conversation about what journalists have to deal with especially non-white women and the topic of diversity within such space.

time to gush about WES!! THE WAY HE LOVES NADINE IS CRAZY!! I NEED HIM Ugh I love him like he kinda reminds me of michael from kiss quotient!! he can cook and he can dress!! Also wes brought a picnic and cooked all the food - at this point wes and nadine aren’t even together also watching wes go from cat hater to being an obsessed cat dad!! so cute!!
when did you get hot? by sabrina carpenter - nadine’s song to wes

spoilers incomnig!
also enjoyed the storyline of rival journalists unraveling a mystery turned a political scandal

okay i don’t mind closed door most of the time but this time i actually hate it

Drop Dead was good. Not great. The love story in there is solid and it does a good job of keeping everything moving. I don’t know what it was about this one but it didn’t hook me, I had to rewind a lot to figure out what was happening and maybe I’m in a bit of a slump, but I just felt meh about the whole thing.
