Fantastic

More Amazing than I was ever expecting! I love this series so much! Ivy has created such an exciting and New world of magic and it’s absolutely Magnificent! Vienna is stronger than ever and I’m totally jealous of her greedy V! That Lucky Little B! More action and pieces of her sentinel lineage being discovered! I am dying for the fourth and final book in this fascinating series!

Series review: Absolutely the best reverse harem series I've read. I am shocked that Asher was able to make seven heroes feel distinct and likeable, but she did. Great heroine. Cool magic. I loved how rich the world was, with so many characters in the story that were important but not romantic - it really made the whole setting feel deeper. If I had a complaint it would be
I just never came around to Enoch et al. Maybe I'm just too petty but they were awful to her so I couldn't understand the turnaround to trusting them so much. I was more relieved than Knox was when their runes weren't Chosen runes. The fighting and drama their presence created made it twice as frustrating. They mostly continued to suck right up til the end, tbh, particularly Enoch. Becket can stay, I guess.
But it's a forgivable sin in light of how much I liked everything else.

Amazing!

I truly LOVE this series! Vin is everything I want to be when I grow up, though her journey is nothing short of horrific. Now, surrounded by her chosen (and a few spares she can’t explain) she is heading into the belly of the beast to confront the terror that has quite literally been staking her throughout her life, along with the people she is just beginning to know. This installment finds answers to quite a few questions, continued relationship growth, a few surprises and action enough to satisfy almost every one of her runes. It almost feels like a final novel with the way the threads are tied.... until the last page.

Pros:
- Answers!!!! We get some.
- Steam level: this one takes the heat and launches it sky high, hitting nuclear in sheer action. In no way does this detract from the story.
- surprises..... there’s a few, trust me.
- Satisfaction: two moments stand out as justice served or earned.
- Flows well.
- Character growth, you can SEE it.
- Vin is learning to count on others and learning that she CAN’T do everything herself. Almost.

Cons:
- Couple places it felt slow.

adventurous dark emotional medium-paced

This is such a simultaneously small detail in the book and yet is mentioned so much throughout the series.
She can magically remove all the hair from her body.
Ok, I get it, female empowerment do whatever you want with your body, but does it have to be mentioned so much.
Also there is a vampire or ‘lambia’ now in the harem or ‘chosen’ and it’s like PLEASE STOP I HATE ALL THESE CHARACTERS STOP ADDING MORE.
Sorry.
I actually like the werewolf and ‘lambia’ addition to the harem (because I hate all the Paladin or whatever their called).
—-Spoilers—-
Also such a cheap shot to kill Lachlan and killian the two characters that I liked outside of the vinna circle jerk.
But then Lachlan dies but then…..
Vaugh is alive!!!!
But he’s also completely brain dead and basically listens and obeys commands and that’s it?
I would have preferred Lachlan have a redemption arc about accepting his brothers daughter and not seeing his dead brother but his niece, if that makes sense.
I wanted them to bond when they were both captured by the lamia but he was just mean to her again.
Like huh?
He’s a PALADIN (basically the police force of their world)
And he can’t prioritise strategising with the Sentinel that will help him get out of the cell they’re in???
I don’t know if this is just lazy writing or poor character development but I just don’t feel like this is what the Lachlan in book one would do.
I’m going to read the next book just to continue with the series but.
I’m just disappointed, I had high hopes for the Vinna being captured arc and it just fell flat for me.

4 stars

I continue to really like this series. The characters are all very likable and the relationship building is solid. I took off a star bc there isn’t really anything particularly unique about this book to truly make it a 5 star read for me. That being said, it is well-written and enjoyable. I do recommend this series.

funny fast-paced

This series has been really fun for me, the FMC is a legit badass with full confidence in her abilities which is a nice combo. This is RH with LOTS of men and I don't think they're developed enough. Its a hard task with so many. HOWEVER I did love them all lol.

The magic system was cool for the fmc, that was fun. The issues she developed with her uncles were frustrating at the start but get slowly resolved in various ways.

Oh also, the banter between the fmc and mmc's is so sweet and had me kicking my feet. Lots of pop culture references and buffy-esk quips though. SO MANY. Too many probably. But I still ate it up like a fine meal.

Book 4 tbr soon.
