What Happened!? Sad shades of LKH, followed by blips of quality.
Really didn’t enjoy the first 2/3. It was all squicky sex scenes that overtook the story.
The FMC is more concerned with her vagina and her males looks, than anything of substance and importance.
They have inappropriate sex, stare longingly at each other when lives are threatened, and basically dump their brains into their groins, despite all life and circumstances have taught them… Huge disappointment!!
Right at the end, we do get back on track for the most part, action wise. But they all still place too much importance on their genitals, rather than circumstance’s.
Plus, the Lamia MC’s personality does a major shift once he has sex with the FMC, morphing him into a shallow version of the other males, despite the massive age difference, cultural conflict’s, and the already established characteristics. Another major disappointment!
The best part of this, was the wrap up of a storyline that was beginning to take on the whole, supervillain trope. Was greatfull to have that done and dusted, regardless of all the other tropes used to get there. The whole, one more surprise danger to overcome, followed by another, and another. The villains sudden new evil abilities ad nauseam, despite it not fitting other story plots.
Lastly, that our girl, is the ONLY prominent girl in the story, and the only strong, capable, and WORTHY one, in the whole series’s! MASSIVE disappointment!!
If I ever decide to re-read this series, will either straight up skim this book, or skip it entirely, now that I have the knowledge required to read the final one.
Fingers crossed

This is such a simultaneously small detail in the book and yet is mentioned so much throughout the series.
She can magically remove all the hair from her body.
Ok, I get it, female empowerment do whatever you want with your body, but does it have to be mentioned so much.
Also there is a vampire or ‘lambia’ now in the harem or ‘chosen’ and it’s like PLEASE STOP I HATE ALL THESE CHARACTERS STOP ADDING MORE.
Sorry.
I actually like the werewolf and ‘lambia’ addition to the harem (because I hate all the Paladin or whatever their called).
—-Spoilers—-
Also such a cheap shot to kill Lachlan and killian the two characters that I liked outside of the vinna circle jerk.
But then Lachlan dies but then…..
Vaugh is alive!!!!
But he’s also completely brain dead and basically listens and obeys commands and that’s it?
I would have preferred Lachlan have a redemption arc about accepting his brothers daughter and not seeing his dead brother but his niece, if that makes sense.
I wanted them to bond when they were both captured by the lamia but he was just mean to her again.
Like huh?
He’s a PALADIN (basically the police force of their world)
And he can’t prioritise strategising with the Sentinel that will help him get out of the cell they’re in???
I don’t know if this is just lazy writing or poor character development but I just don’t feel like this is what the Lachlan is book one would do.
I’m going to read the next book just to continue with the series but.
I’m just disappointed, I had high hopes for the Vinna being captured arc and it just fell flat for me.

DNF @ 58% I just couldn’t do it. I don’t care anymore. Maybe I’ll come back later and try again.
