I thought the structure of this story was very well done. The different perspectives were interesting, and a fresh twist on the “murderers among us” trope. I had a few issues with the plot however, I thought it fell a little flat at the end. May taking Cece at gunpoint isn’t ever really explained…it felt like this was only part of the climax to draw out the story a little longer, it didn’t add much-the same drama could have been achieved if May had just made a break for it and run to the police station. The way the story was told made it seem like May had a different plan when she took Cece? And if the character of May cared about Cece, especially to the point of refusing to escape without her, why traumatize her unnecessarily? Especially if she could have gone to the police station with or without the girl. Just didn’t seem to add up.
I do think the author did a nice job of addressing how blindsided people can be by serial killers. The character of Emily really forces the reader to acknowledge the uncomfortable truth of how charming and alluring people can be…it’s like you’re frustrated with Emily the whole time (and in fairness, she could have had more depth as a character), but know it could happen to any one of us! Definitely achieved the frisson factor.
Cece’s development as well could have been added to make the ending not so choppy. We get hints of her choosing Rachel over her dad many times, but why is never explained.
Overall worth the read, and definitely chilling. The characters were interesting and I was invested, the plot got lost a little along the way and the ending could have been rounded off much better.

I loved the premise, and the format. Very interesting idea, having 3 perspectives surround a serial killer. But in the end, I was only half paying attention. The characters and dialogue just didn’t catch me.
