When Mara Dyer transferred to a new school she thought her past would leave her behind. She was wrong. First it came in the form of nightmares, slowly revealing what had happened the night her best friend died. Then everything became more real and Mara struggled to figure out what was really happening to her along with the help of play boy, Noah.
I don’t know what I was expecting to get out of this book. I first got interested in this book because of all of the hype about it. The story line was interesting and the characters (especially Mara) reminded me of how my sister talks. The reading was slow going, I even felt like skimming some of the parts. Also, I not really sure if I even liked the characters. I was kind of indifferent to both Mara and Noah, my favorite one out of all of them was Joseph and he wasn’t even in the book that much.
I would recommend this book to people that liked Anna Dressed in Blood. I am going to continue on and read the next one just to see what happens.

I'm not even sure I can write a review about this book that'll make sense. I thought it was disturbing at times (and I had to stop partway through and read another book because it was too much for me) but also thrilling (the book kept me on the edge of my seat almost the whole time) and electric (with a really interesting romance).
I'm definitely gonna read the second and third installments, but I would say it wasn't my favorite book.

3.5??? THIS BOOK?? I wasn’t expecting it to be the way it was and there was definitely issues like insta love and it was really cliche at parts but idk man it was cute yet scary and the frantic parts made me feel like I was there with Mara and Noah and it was just so addicting I NEED the second part!! golly.
I’m really bout to be shook on this one for a few days

4/5 stars!
I remember everyone going crazy over this book about ten years ago and I wanted to join in but I never got around to reading it. I saw this book in the charity shop a few years ago and picked it up and Iv just been in the mood for nostalgia reads. The typical early 2010s twilight era sort of books.
Going into Mara Dyer I had no idea what it was going to be about it’s very ominous and it actually stays like that throughout, even after the ending. I’m getting more of a clearer pictures of what is happening to Mara Dyer but I think it’s going to slowly unravel itself over the next two books. It’s very eerie, mysterious but also quite broody. It’s a book that’s defiantly stuck in the past of the 2010s. The I’m not like other girls trope (which I think the book is slightly self aware of). The very cringe slightly pretentious lines defiantly came from Noah. It’s a very moody slightly cringe at times book. You do find your eyes rolling slightly.
The romance to me was not bad but not great either. Noah and Mara don’t really interest me but I’m not not rooting for them either. I feel chemistry but I’m just not very interested. What really interests me is what the hell is going on? Does she have powers? Is it supernatural? Is it mental health? What does it all mean? Where does it all come from? It’s a very intriguing book. I found it hard it to put down. I actually want to read the next two books on the series because I want to know more about Mara Dyer and her next journey.

So so good!
I honestly regret not reading this sooner because this book is such a mindfuck (in a good way).
We don’t know if what Mara sees is truly there or not!
And also I need a Noah Shaw in my life
