I loved this book it’s so different to anything I’ve read before. I just keep wanting to pick this book up can’t wait to see where it’s ends up going
WTF. This book was CRAZY. (In a good, trippy, scary way). I finished this hours ago and am still reeling a bit.
And what have I done? I've started another crazy cliffhangery trilogy where book 3 isn't out for another several months. AHHHHHH.

I liked this book a hell of a lot. It totally captured me and didn't let me go until the last page. I would've read this in one sitting if it weren't for school and sleep getting in the way.
I gave it only 4 stars just because some chunks were too confusing. And I know you're probably thinking, "well duh the whole book is supposed to be confusing." But like no, some scenes were not thrilling-plot-device confusing; they were just plain old the-author-didnt-do-a-good-job-of-setting-up-the-scene confusing. Also the romance was very hot and cold for me. At some points I was absolutely in love with Noah Shaw and their relationship, but other times it felt weirdly forced.
Also, I would have liked to see more scenes with the psychiatrist. I thought it was a great way to explore Mara's character while still driving the plot, yet for some reason it wasn't used to its full potential. Instead there was that weird scene where it was Mara just going "heynoahhereseverythingthathappened" and like that didn't really work for me.
Anyway, for the most part it was a great first book, and I'm equal parts excited and nervous to continue the series!

Not what I expected from this book but it was pretty good!
I’ve been saying it through this whole book but I just wish I had read it when it came out. I would’ve enjoyed it a lot more. You can just kind of tell it was written years ago and it just didn’t age well. Which is too bad because the plot itself had hope, but I never got any answers. I still don’t really know what’s going on.
I’ll still read the next book and probably finish the trilogy, but I’m not super excited. I think I’m just trapped by wanting answers.
Hoping that it gets better...
