Admittedly, when I first started the book my interest was piqued but then it seemed to go in a lull and for a while I was close to dropping it and continuing with something else. But as events began to unfold and the conversations became more lively and amusing, I found myself sticking with the book until the end and not regretting it in the slightest. It wasn't quite what I'd expected it to be but after one moment the events grabbed my interest so much that I finished reading it in a day.
I was intrigued by the mystery of what was happening to Mara, however I felt that the entire plot and interesting points took a back seat to one of the most poorly written cliche filled romances I've ever read, comparable to Edward and Bella in the worst way possible. The only reason I finished it was because I was stuck on a plane.
I absolutely loved how confusing yet amazing this book was. I loved how the genre switched so many times. I love Mara and Noah. I even loved that gut-wrenching cliff hanger.
Super easy read! It's a book you can finish in one sitting or two. Some parts of the story were super cheesy and cringe. but I wouldn't expect anything less from YA. I liked the concept. It felt very fresh. I did get nervous while reading because the suspense was stressful lol.
Its better to read this book without knowing anything about it!
That's why I enjoyed it so much!
But it's sad to see all the ignorant people that can't relate to the characters because they think is just a cliche British bad boy and girl romance.
It's not about that at all
Yes Noah is a British attractive guy. A band boy you may say but he has flaws.
People object that he is too perfect to be real and that there is no sense of realism in his character when if you truly take the time to see him you see a deeply trouble person. Someone who is closed to sharing his feelings or showing any kind of emotion.
So if the reason you didn't like the book was because Noah is so perfect. Please take the time to fully connect with the characters instead of judging their lack of emotion when you don't really know much about them.
Because in this book his character is not fully explored like in the second book.

a million stars; this book has my HEART and my MIND in a chokehold, and honestly? i don't want either back. genuinely no words except you MUST read it. i expected nothing i read and thoroughly enjoyed every second of it. and noah shaw? had me kicking my feet and feeling like a fraud of a lesbian.
This book was all over the place. It started off alright, but really started to lose me after the first third or so. I don't know if I'll read the next one...
Any book that keeps me up all night deserves 5 stars.
I definitely was not disappointed with Mara Dyer.
