Very pleasant story
I enjoyed it, though it might not hold the same interest if you are not a reader of the rest of the series.

What a great novella about Pia and Dragos. Here they are trying to one, maybe have another baby, two, find some sort of political agreement with humans for all the Elder Races. They are going to host a the second party in the Washington D.C. home. There is a lot of sex as Dragos reaches for his mating craze. It is just great to see the dragon come out. Sort but sweet. No problem with character development as the characters are already well known. After reading Shadow's End, I decided to come to this sooner rather than later and wasn't disappointed. I can see where the overarc is going as we know what Liam is trying to do. I hope he succeeds.

My review and an extended sample of the audiobook are posted at Hotlistens.com.
I’ve really enjoyed these novellas of the Cuelebre family. Dragos and Pia have always been my favorite couple in this series, so having these stories where we can go back and spend more time with them has been fun. This story actually takes place before the most recent Elder Races story. There was information from that book that you actually learn about in this story. I read the books out of order, but I don’t think that affected anything about either story.
In Dragos Goes to Washington, Dragos and Pia go to DC to meet with the other leaders of the Elder domains along with the leaders of the human government. The Elders want to work with the humans to try to solve some of the unrest between the two groups from some violence that took place earlier in the series that ended the lives of many humans.
Dragos finds himself in a place where he must be politically correct and hospitable, which is not something that the dragon wants to do. The dragon is well aware of the fact that he could fly over all of these humans that are protesting and burn them all to pieces. However, he must protect all of the Wyr. They have become used to their lives of luxury from living with technology that humans provide. That will be something that would be hard to take everyone away from, if they could even do it logistically.
One of the nights, Dragos and Pia host a dinner at their house in DC that is on Embassy Row. They have the President, Vice President, Speaker of the House, Senate Majority and Minority leaders and all of their significant others. Plus all the Elder races domain leaders with their other halves, as well. While this is going on, someone is murdered in Dragos’ home and they tried to make it look like a Wyr did it. Not to mention that Pia isn’t feeling up to normal. Add all of these things together and you have a very grumpy Dragos.
Once again, fun look inside Cuelebre family. Not necessarily required reading for the series, but a fun one that most fans of the series I don’t think would want to miss. There is some of Liam too, at the beginning, but not very much. The scene is also set for the next story in the novella series, Pia Takes Hollywood. I’ll be listening to it soon.
Narration
Once again, Sophie Eastlake nails the narration. Her male and female voices are always spot on. I love her pace and tone. I did speed up the narration a little more than normal this time. I don’t know why it felt a little slower, but with the increased speed, it felt better for me on this one. I still loved it. If you haven’t tried Sophie Eastlake, I highly recommend her.

I received a free copy of this novella from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.
Three and a half stars.
I love the Elder Races series and the way in which Thea Harrison brings different creatures to the table - everyone else is doing weres and vampires - she has Djinn, elves, unicorns et al.
This novella goes back to the original couple, Dragos, Lord Cuelebre (a dragon) and head of the Wyr and his spouse Pia. They go to Washington to meet the President and attend a meeting of all the Elder Races leaders together with the human leaders to discuss the escalating violence within the Elder Races.
Dragos and Pia have also decided to try for another child - but things aren't going well. Pia is unwell and some of the humans are hostile to the Elder Races.
This novella was just the right length for me - some are too short but this had good story development. I also like a series in which a couple can be (very) happily married and still be romantic and sexy.
Absolutely recommended for fans of the Elder Races (naturally) but also for those who are unsure about whether to read these books - I think it could be read and enjoyed by a newbie and it would give them a taste of the series.

The recent events of violence and death among the Nightkind have humankind in arms, so a meeting is being held in D.C. to iron out differences. The leaders of all the Wyr Demesne are present, including Dragos and Pia. Things aren't going well, between the protesters and the fact that Dragos is in mating mode, but it gets even worse fast when there's a murder at Dragos' Washington mansion.
I will never get tired of checking in with this couple. An attempt for a new baby, the Right to Privacy movement, Pia's hives and nausea, everything weaves together into a most satisfying story. Short it may be, but definitely packed with fun and excitement. 4.5 out of 5.

lol, Ima be honest. I just want PIA and Dragos. Maybe Eva -- The biggest problem Elder Races is that they keep giving me books of people I don't really about. I want nice long thick books of PIa and Dragos. Instead, I get a lot of random couples I'm only lukewarm about. The few I'm into I rarely hear from again as soon as they are mated. It's rather annoying

I love these novella series' from Harrison. They're like little outtakes from Pia and Dragos' life together. As the leader of the Wyr, Dragos has immense responsibility politically and professionally. Bringing a mate and child into his world is tricky and requires constant juggling. I love revisiting these characters and seeing where they are in their lives and with the current political climate. Some of the novellas are more personal and focus strictly on Dragos, Pia and Liam (the Peanut!), while others focus more on external plots with personal situations sprinkled throughout. This novella falls more into the latter category.
I love how real Dragos and Pia's relationship is. It's not all hearts and flowers all the time. It's messy, because life - and love - is messy. Pia still struggles with flashes of uncertainty about Dragos' feelings for her. They're short-lived and easily put to rest, but seeing those lend a dose of realism to the story.
Harrison never fails to draw me into her world. This novella is filled with political intrigue, passion and a surprising revelation that will deeply affect both Pia and Dragos.

I have glee, I tell you, GLEE!!!
I can't help it, I LOVE Thea Harrison and I LOVE Dragos. He's quite possibly one of my favorite alpha males in all of my reading. I've read Dragon Bound so many times and I will probably do it again because I love him so much. Pia is pretty awesome too. The two of them might just rank right there as a favorite couple.
Right through reading this story, I'm messaging my friend Bambi gushing about how much I love Dragos.
I simply adore Dragos. I'm so glad she continues to write novellas with him in them.
I love the mating frenzy. I want mating frenzy.
Have I mentioned I love Dragos?
Am I gushing just a little bit?
... and then there were a slew of cute heart stickers because I needed to express my love visually too. I know, It's silly ridiculous but reading this story made me SO happy.
This story has all the elements of what I've come to love about Thea Harrison and her Dragos stories. There's lots of Dragos growly sexiness, Dragos gets grumpy, Dragos gets sexy, Dragos is hugely devoted to Pia, Dragos gets protective, Dragos gets all dragoney (is that even a word?), and then there's Pia who is always adorable, something they decide to do which is very exciting, and a little bit of mystery thrown in.
I'm fairly certain I will be going back and reading this again and again. As it was, right after I finished, I went back and re-read the last chapter or so, in order to savor the ending again ... which by the way, was delicious. :-)
If you haven't read the Elder Races story, you'd probably be a little lost starting here, but do yourself a favor and go start the series with Dragon Bound. You won't regret it. This is one of my all time favorite paranormal series.
Really, you need to read this!!

Oh, man, this book was so freaking awesome! Politics, the "I want another baby" conversation and subsequent action, the murder mystery, all so great! Loved it!
