I only read the first 3 chapters but I didn't particularly like the way the main female protagonist acts and thinks. On the other hand, I did like the way the male protagonist behaved and treated her, even when he was in her presence for a short amount of time.

4 Stars. This was a very cute book, the love that develops between the two characters is beautifully written and feels natural. The romantic gestures were so sweet, and I was squealing whenever they were revealed. I did not like the element of Rosie having saved pictures of Lucas (from his social media) prior to them meeting in person. It made me feel uncomfortable with how much information is shared online, but this was only a minor point, mostly only present in the early chapters of the book. The slow burn was well executed, and I think Lucas is my new favourite book boyfriend.

I hadn’t read “The Spanish Love Deception”, but I found that I could read this book as a standalone. The main characters from Love Deception are present as side characters in this novel, so I’m interested to find out about their love story when I inevitably pick up their book!

I stand by my opinion I wrote at 75% done: The characters are finding drama where there isn't one. They both act like teenagers and it feels like neither of them has any emotional intelligence. The flirting is SO obvious, and they still both (pretend to? think?) that the other person is not flirting. The subplots are barely developed (ex: her brother and dad). I keep waiting for a twist... Maybe it's hidden in the last quarter.

The last quarter got quite a bit better but it feels like a shallow try to make it a good book. The characters did mature, we did get the happy ending and they got themselves together.
Unfortunately, this is still not good enough to forget the three quarters of a book where the characters were acting like whiney children.

I expected much more based on the hype that Spanish Deception #1 got.
