Hilarious, unfiltered, mystical magic. Pete Holmes hit me in the feels and now I can't stop asking: "what is this?"

The first half of this book about him growing up in religion, getting married and divorced early and rebuilding his life is an easy 5 stars. The second half about his religious journey was more tedious and I'd give 3 stars. So an average of 4. BTW - the audiobook is definitely the way to go.

I found this book delightful. I am usually a paper book gal, but I highly recommend getting the audiobook so you can enjoy Pete Holmes telling these stories aloud.

This book resonated with me a lot and by the end of it I felt an incredible amount of gratitude towards Pete, the funny and painful stories he shared, and his recommendations for taking spirituality deeper.

Ignited a curiosity in Ram Dass and spiritual enlightenment that's been a long time coming. Also very funny and relatable, Pete and I had similar shame cycles throughout our child and adulthoods.

Came for the comedy, stayed for the enlightening discussion on religion, enlightenment, and recognizing the you that looks out of your eyes every day. Love Pete’s show “Crashing” and this book just continues his journey of self-discovery.

comedians are truly the best writers among us. minus one star because towards the end the subject material leaned heavily in the direction of his spiritual journey which i was less interested in and found myself skimming over, but it’s an important piece of who he is and i still respect that!
