i really wanted to fall in love with this book, but honestly, i just couldn't bring myself to care about it. the beginning of the book dragged, and the dual timelines were so similar that they started to blur together, and i had a hard time remembering if i was reading Viv or Carly’s POV. unfortunately, i didn’t connect with the characters either — they annoyed me.

that being said, i absolutely love the book's setting. a haunted motel filled with ghosts? sign me up! it instantly grabbed my attention. towards the end, the story did pick up the pace, becoming intense and serious, though it almost felt rushed.

overall, it’s worth reading once, but i don’t see myself coming back to it for a second time.

I loved this! Perfect mix between ghosts and humans. I’m not usually a ghosts person but there’s more going on with the living in this with a serial killer on the loose. Changing chapter to chapter between Viv in the 80’s and Carly in the present whilst they try and solve the same crime was really good, especially with the audiobook I couldn’t stop listening at the end.
