I give this one 4 stars as well, despite it being better than its prequel in every way, because I still feel something is missing.

I liked the first book better, but this is still a very interesting take on fantasy and a mix of dystopia, science-fiction and magic.
This second book is a bit more confusing, since it deals with different perspectives from different time periods. Also, not much happens until the very end of the book. I don't know; I definitely liekd it, but I have some doubts.

Much more going on than in the first book. Sometimes it's a little much switching back and forth between Kelsea and Lily but still intriguing.
I thought this series was supposed to get better with each book and I was so disapointed.
I enjoyed Kelsea in the first book. Not one of my favorite characters but I got used to her. In the Invasion of the Tearling I couldn't stand her (as well as Lily). I actually had to take a break from this book, which doesn't happen a lot to me. Through the whole book they kept talking and complaining about the same stuff over and over again, and just like it was in the first book, NOTHING HAPPENED. There was some action at the end (even though I expected a real battle) but that was it. After 500 pages all you get is too-fast ending.
I'll finish the series anyway and I'm really hoping this book will surprise me.

Oh, I wish I could express just how much I love this book and this series so far. The writing is fantastic, the world is fantastic, and the story is incredible. It has been a while since I read the first book but unlike what usually happens between the vast amount of time between book releases, I remembered mostly everything and jumped right into this book.
This book, oh man this book, I dare you to say that you can predict where this book was going! For a while I was really concerned about where this story was going because it was the complete opposite of what I thought possible. Parts of this book were really rough on me too. I can take some pretty dark material, but this one really hurt my soul when it came to what some of these characters went through. I am so emotionally attached to these characters, it is kinda crazy. I will admit right know that I am over emotionally invested in this series and will be going slowly crazy until the next book. But I am in it, come what may. Hopefully true love and happiness but I'm not holding my breath.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this series! I can't wait a whole year for the next book... this is why I read older fiction.
