Blurb seemed interesting was excited to read but after 2/3 chapters got boring. I think it’s because of the characters or the  writing idk but I couldn’t continue this story it was getting bland and boring.

3.5 stars. Ruined was pretty much a blind read, you know what's happening before reading it. I think what was bit different about the book is Em's character and how she is a more vicious character than a lot of the stories like this one.

Spoiler I liked that Tintera spent more time discussing the after math of Cas finding out who Em really is and watching him process his hate/anger/sadness/etc etc.

However, what I'm not sure about is how fast Tintera killed who could have been a potential love triangle and the real lack of story given to this despite Damian being Em's best friend.

I also have a feeling I will hate Em's sister.

I was not expecting a lot from this book but it blew me away!!! In the beginning I was a bit skeptical but by the end...no words! I loved it sooo much! I've read Amy Tintera's other books and loved them. Her writing is easy to read and you just flow through it. The story is fast paced and there is never a dull moment.

I wasn't expecting to love all the characters as much as I did. The character development of Cas was very fun to read. In the beginning he was like a shy puppy and by the end he was a prince standing up for what he believes in. He never spoke out against his father and he complied with what his father said. By the end he spoke his mind whether he was on his family's side or not.

I was really disappointed that the magic system and the world was not explored more. But since this is the first book I'm hoping that we will see the magic and the world explained in the next books.

I loved all the fighting scenes! Em was awesome in all of them. I loved that she won the match against Jovita and that Emelina practiced with Iria.

I thought Em and Cas's relationship was so adorable!

For me this book had a lot of cool surprises. I did not expect the Lera castle to be taken over by the warriors. Nor did I expect the queen to stab Em and Olivia to rip the queen's heart out. And at the end when Em said she saw heads rolling? Is Aren dead?!?!?!? I need to know!!! And Olivia Is CRAZY!! I really dislike her!

This book was just what I needed to read right now. I flew right through it in one sitting. So Good!

There was a lot of similar elements in this book to other books in the YA fantasy genre but I think it's worth reading. I would recommend this book to someone who likes books with a strong female lead, a cool magic system, and a bit of romance.

This review and more: Sharing Inspired Kreations

Let me start off by saying that I’m such a sucker for these types of books. Give me a book with a Dystopian society and a tortured romance and I likely won’t be able to put it down.

To be honest, this book was nothing special when I really think about it. The writing is a bit immature and I’ve read similar stories. The world-building wasn’t very good (I don’t have a clear idea of this world even after finishing the book and I don’t know where these ruined people came from or how they got their powers – are they human or no?) and the characters could have been more developed.

BUT I was so captivated by the story and the romance and the suspense and action that I really enjoyed this book. I didn’t want to put it down, in fact. It’s definitely not perfect and I can find a lot of reasons why I shouldn’t like it (and I’m sure many people will), but I don’t care because I was completely pulled into it. I will read the sequel as well.

In theory, this was a great story. Girl swears revenge on a kingdom that murdered her parents and kidnapped her sister, so she murders the prince's intended bride and masquerades as her, with plans to rescue her sister and overthrow them from the inside.

That said, I think this story could have used a better editor. There were so many just little things that, while reading, distracted from the story, like the author referring to the main character as both her actual name and the name of the murdered bride within the same chapter. Some of the plot points were a stretch, characters could have been developed better, and I realize this can only be blamed on me, but one of her co-conspirators was supposed to be a powerfully magical fighter, but his name was Damian, so all I could think of was Damian from Mean Girls.

It's a quick read, a mostly good story, I will probably move on to the next book in the series, but... eh?

This book was very good and an easy read. This gave me major "Bridge Kingdom" vibes, so if you enjoyed this book you'll really like that one too, or vice versa!

Wow! This book was great. I felt so bad for Emelina after wshe had to witness her parents' murders and her sisters kidnapping. I don't blame her for being angry. I abolutely loved Cas and Aren so much. And then with Olivia being the Queen of Revenge. This was the best book I've read in a while. Amazing!!! 5 stars.
