This is such a fun Christmas book! The premise is about making a family out of your chosen friends in a New York setting. I loved all of the characters, especially Hannah and Finn. It has definitely put me in a Christmas mood. It is billed as a romance, but I feel that it is more a story about friendship.
Thanks to Penguin Books and Netgalley for the digital copy of the book for my opinion.

Loved this one. New York, friendship and romance and everything in between.
MC was self absorbed and needy, but the other characters were adorable. Not a terrible Christmas read but it didn't stand out.
This was cute and fun! Didn’t love that the two guys got together at the end - I did not really see a vibe between them . I feel like the friendships were not given enough context to show why they were so critical. But it was cute and I had a good time
A perfect Christmas week read! I loved the emphasis on friendship over romance. All of the references from the past Christmases made chuckle since I’m the same age as the characters.
I legit LOVED this story about friendship and love and grief and change.
If you are a person whose friends are family, this novel will hit close to home!

Cute, but somewhat predictable. I had a hard time getting into this one because I thought Hannah was rather self-absorbed, though I liked Finn well enough as a flawed character. I sometimes had a hard time who was talking as the narrator changed. I did appreciate how different the characters were and that the author didn't fall into that trap (Hannah: "oh, look at how great a dancer Theo is!" Finn: "The looks ridiculous when he dances.").

This book was good, but it could have been so, so much better. Even though it was a Christmas book, it lacked that nice festive feeling that Christmas brings. The second and unfortunately the main thing that annoyed me was the main character Hannah.
I'm not an orphan, and I certainly don't wish that on anyone, but Hannah should have gotten a therapist for Christmas. I understand that celebrating Christmas with friends was a coping mechanism for her, but I didn't like how often she emotionally blackmailed her friends. Hannah still acted like a little brat, and was willing to go through the motions just to get her Christmas tradition. The tradition of spending Christmas together because you have no one else to celebrate it with is very nice, but it had to be clear that eventually they would find relationships and families to spend the holidays with. I really felt sorry for the way Hannah treated her boyfriend David, because he definitely didn't deserve it, and Hannah really made a scene every time something didn't go her way.
I liked the other main character, Finn, a lot more, as did the other characters, Priya and Thea. These three were much more likable and funny and you could really see them moving on with age. New relationships, new jobs, new homes. They were living their lives, while Hannah was stuck in place and still blaming them for it.
I also very liked Finn and Theo’s one night stand to best friends to lovers relationship ‘cause it just felt really personal in some way. The airport scene was really cliché but it was cute and nice. And overall I just liked all of their scenes, the subtle hints of love gestures and everything.
things I liked🎁
* found family trope
* best friends to lovers
* funny friendship scenes
* New York vibes
If there weren’t so many Hannah’s chapters, the rating would be higher.

I'm feeling happy and a bit sappy after having finished this book, so I,m rounding it up to 5 stars. It was a Christmas book that delivered on its Christmas promises for me. In fact, it had some of the same vibes as Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow, which is a great book, except this had more pancakes and Christmas trees, and fewer pages.
It was a fun trip through Boston and NYC with a lot of pop culture name dropping and lots of quirky adventures. It was a holiday movie where the friendship and chosen family relationships were of prime importance, though the romances were there, too.
I didn't love how the chapters were labeled to help us figure out the time period of each chapter, when the present was labeled “ this year” and others were labeled 2016 or 2017. That's not going to age well.
