I received this book as a free Good Reads giveaway. When it arrived, I realized I hadn't yet read the two previous ones so I picked them up and read them first. I enjoy this series and can't believe I got so far behind on it. This book was another good book in the series. I enjoy the characters and the area where the books take place.

I've really loved the Animal Magnetism series from Jill Shalvis and All I Want was a fun addition. With the house finally to herself Zoe is perfectly happy with her life. As a pilot for hire in her home town of Sunshine, Idaho she has everything she wants. Maybe she wouldn't mind a date or two but finding the right man when she grew up with everyone in town is a little hard. Until a man shows up on her doorstep. Parker may be on an enforced vacation but he's using his off time to track down a smuggler. Spending time with his best friend's sister, falling for her, was definitely not part of the plan but there's just something about Zoe. When his job puts her in danger Parker will do anything to protect the woman he's fallen for, even if it means leaving her behind. Another fun, romantic read from Ms. Shalvis. Can't wait to read more!

There's comfort in expecting something and getting it. Jill Shalvis's novels are quite enjoyable. Sure, you have to suspend your disbelief, it's interesting how it's easier with some novels than others.

The main characters: Zoe is 30 and a pilot-for-hire. Parker is a special agent for the US Fish and Wildlife. Parker is her brother's friend from the university days. As Zoe lives by herself in a huge house, Parker boards with Zoe for a little while. Of course, he's super hot, the right age and single. Of course, the chemistry is out of this world. We all know how these novels go. After all we don't read them for their realism.

There isn't much to the plot, but anyway, it wasn't too bad - for the genre.

I will never get tired of reading a book by Jill Shalvis, swear it. She is my go to author and I don't even need to read the blurb before I open each and every book. Is there a certain formula/pattern to her books, probably, but I never seem to tire of it. I love how each of her series intertwines characters and storylines because it makes everything feel familiar and makes the reading experience even better.

Parker is sweet, sexy and just the right amount of alpha. Zoe is a bit of an enigma. She doesn't like change but she's not ready to fully commit to anything for an extended amount of time, she's lonely but doesn't like to put herself out there and she's fiercely independent and extremely loyal to those she cares about. The two of them have some serious chemistry, both in the bedroom and out.

I read this book in one sitting and thoroughly enjoyed every second of it.

If you like sweet, sexy romance with little to no angst and a whole lot of furry cuteness, then this is a must read.

Very good book. Zoe is the last of the three Stone siblings and the only one who hasn't found true love yet. She pretends that she's fine alone, but really she wants what they have. Instead, she makes her work as a pilot her life, along with her dog Oreo, until she decides it's time to go after what she wants. As the book opens she's getting ready for a blind date, assisted by commentary from her sister Darcy. A challenge from Darcy has her kissing the man at the door, only to find out he's not her date.

Parker is an agent for the Fish and Wildlife Service, who is on forced leave from his job, after the death of a friend and his own injuries. He's been told to leave the case alone, but can't do it. A tip brings him to Sunshine, where he is renting a room from his friend Wyatt's sister. He does not expect the welcome that he gets.

There are sparks between Zoe and Parker from the beginning. Both try to resist, Zoe because she's looking for something permanent, which he isn't, and Parker because he'll be leaving as soon as he does what he came for. But resistance is futile as each is fascinated with the other. Zoe is smart, works hard, loves her family dearly and is also rather bossy. She did most of the raising of her siblings thanks to her neglectful parents, plus has been burned by a previous relationship, so she likes to be in control. Her favorite phrase is "I'm fine, I've got this". Parker is career driven and focused, but has a softer side that shows when dealing with a pair of kittens and his sister. He's intrigued by Zoe, but knows that he's not the one for her, because he isn't staying around.

I loved the development of their relationship. Parker is charming, sexy and has a great sense of humor. I loved the way that he could tease her out of a bad mood. Spending time with her has him thinking about things that had never appealed before, like having a permanent home and someone to come home to. It was sweet to see the little things he did to make her life easier. Zoe works a little harder to resist, but soon falls for the man she sees under the determined agent. It was fun to see them "playing house" together, with the desire for more growing between them. Some of their conversations were laugh out loud funny, while the chemistry between them was sizzling. But when his job brings danger to Zoe, Parker pulls back. It takes him a little while to see the light but his big moment at the end was great. I really loved that bit of vulnerability that was there beneath his apology.

There was a bit of suspense in this story, dealing with the poacher that Parker has been chasing for years. It shows the stubborn and somewhat rogue side of him, as he breaks quite a few rules that have been made clear to him. The confrontation between Parker and Carver was pretty intense and didn't end quite the way I thought it would.

The secondary characters always add some extra life to the story. From Darcy's advice at the beginning, that started the whole thing with Parker, to Wyatt's advice to Parker, the siblings show their love for and understanding of Zoe. The football game involving characters from previous books was a chance to catch up, and also see some of the fun interactions between them. I loved Parker's sister and how important she was to him. She was sweet and fun, and the Vegas and Glacier trip was awesome. But the one who stole the show was the dog Oreo. It was fun to see his reactions to the kittens, and how quickly he took to Parker.

In All I Want, we return the Sunshine, ID for the seventh installment of the Animal Magnetism series. This time we are spending time with Zoe, the sister of Wyatt and Darcy, whom we have met and seen glimpses of in previous books. We meet a new character, Parker, who is a college friend of Wyatt’s and needs a temporary place to stay while he is in town for work and a sabbatical.

The glimpses we have seen of Zoe previously really haven’t told us too much about her, so reading All I Want was really like reading a completely stand-alone novel about two brand new characters, a fact I enjoyed.

Ms. Shalvis delivers exactly what her fans have come to expect from her in terms of characters. Zoe is a smart, somewhat snarky heroine who is slightly wounded by life, but is determined to make her way. Parker is a sexy, alpha male in law enforcement who ends up being blindsided by love. The cast of secondary characters isn’t huge and honestly, they mainly add color and a little more detail about our hero and heroine. Watching Parker’s interactions with his sister and the kittens told us a lot about who he is as a person. I loved the little things he did for Zoe from the moment he met her, you just knew he was a great guy.

Zoe and Parker are a fun couple to spend time with and you really root for them as the story moves along. There is more of an action/suspense element to this story and it was a fun addition. There are no surprises in All I Want, but for me, it is one of the stronger entries into the Animal Magnetism series.

To read my entire review, got to: https://onebooktwo.wordpress.com/2015/11/09/all-i-want-by-jill-shalvis/

October has been beautiful this year with weather you don’t often see this close to Christmas. I even got sunburned one day. But no matter how nice the weather is or how beautiful the leaves are, this fall will always be remembered as a season of loss.

There has been a lot to grieve, but most of it I won’t share to be respectful of the privacy of others. However, there is one heartbreak that I can share because it is completely mine and Lucyfer’s. On Friday, my cat and Lucy’s companion Hobbes slipped from this world peacefully as the cancer became too much. He was a beautiful 14 ½ year old tan and white cat that always rubbed his head on my kindle as I read and sometime got the pages to turn too quickly when he hit the screen with his paw. He loved that.

So on Friday night, Lucifer and I sat alone wondering what to do next. Reading has always been my escape so I picked up my kindle that still had Hobbes hair sticking to it. My heart contracted but I smiled at the silly memories I had of him. I started looking through my kindle trying to find something that I could get lost in and make me laugh. Then I found Jill Shalvis’s new book All I Want.

All I Want is a fun loving stand-alone book in her Animal Magmatism series. However, we still get to visit many of the characters we fell in love with in her previous six books. My first smile came when Zoe opened the door and kissed Parker thinking he was someone else and my first laugh came when this happened:

“Help!” screeched a feminine voice. “HELP ME!”

Parker whipped around, automatically reaching for the weapon that he didn’t have at the small of his back because, oh yeah, he was in running gear with no place to hide a weapon.

But there was no woman. Just a huge parrot perched on a printer at the front desk.

“Help!” it squeaked in a shockingly authentic woman’s voice. “I’ve been turned into a parrot!”

“Peanut, play dead,” Wyatt said. Peanut sighed and tucked her head into her feathers.

“Good parrot.” Wyatt looked at Parker. “She’s a nut.”

“Damn, shit, farts,” the bird muttered beneath her breath, making Parker grin.

Wyatt sighed. “Peanut’s a mimic, and Jade, our office manager, has a bit of a potty mouth.”

“Boner,” Peanut said, head still tucked into her feathers.

“Peanut, dead parrots don’t talk.” Wyatt turned back to Parker. “Follow me.”

I was laughing so hard that tears were running down my face. This is what Jill Shalvis’s books do. They make you laugh. They make you open your heart to two imperfect but wonderful characters. They make you fall in love. They make you forget about the bad day, the awful boss, or the hole that is in your heart. That’s a gift that not many writers have but Jill Shalvis is filled with it. It’s a gift that she gives her readers.

I loved this book. I loved how each interaction between Zoe and Parker was well sculpted and added to each character. I loved the sexual tension that crackled between the two characters. I loved the witty banter back and forth. I loved the Rated R love scenes and I loved that they rescued 2 kittens that needed a home. Somehow, that Friday night, I felt that Jill had written that book especially for me. So when the happy ending came and the story was over, my heart was a little lighter and little more whole.

Books can be magic. Jill Shalvis’s certainly are.

All I Want is a tense and beautiful contemporary romance with realistic and complex characters, including Parker's younger sister who had Down's syndrome.
