*I received a free copy of All I Want from Tantor Media. This has in no way influenced my review which is honest and unbiased.*

All I Want was even better in audio -the narrator did a great job of bringing the characters and their woes to life!

All I Want
3 Stars

With her siblings out of the house, Zoe Stone is trying to settle down to a life of peace and quiet in the small town of Sunshine, Idaho, when her brother’s friend, Parker James, blows in to stay with her while he searches for a fugitive smuggler. Zoe and Parker’s instant attraction catches them by surprise, but well aware that he is simply passing through has them questioning the wisdom of a temporary fling that may just break both of their hearts.

While the book has all the right elements, a sexy hero, a quirky heroine and the cutest animals around, they simply do not come together and the story ultimately falls flat.

Zoe and Parker’s supposedly instantaneous chemistry is actually non-existent for most of the book. It is never quite clear what they see in each other and the fact that Zoe is constantly on guard to the fact that Parker is leaving puts a damper on any emotional attachment that could develop between them.

It is never a good thing when the animals characters are the best aspect of a romance. The antics of Oreo the huge Bernese and Bonnie & Clyde, the cutest kittens alive, completely overshadow Zoe and Parker’s relationship.

The minor suspense plot revolving around Parker’s investigation into a smuggler’s connection to a local militia has potential, but lacks any real tension and action.

In sum, although there are some engaging scenes, and Zoe and Parker’s romance does eventually take off, this installment is one of the weakest in the series and perhaps it is time for Shalvis to move on from Sunshine, Idaho.

All I Want, Animal Magnetism #7, by Jill Shalvis
Grade: B

Zoe Stone has not been lucky in love but she's ready to finally put herself back out there. When her blind date shows up she decides to follow her sister's advice and kiss the sexies man she's ever laid eyes on. To Zoe's shock the man turns out to not be her date but her brother's best friend Parker James. Parker is staying with Zoe while he takes a much needed vacation from his job but now Zoe has to deal with keeping her hands off her new house guest.

U.S. Fish and Wildlife Special Agent Parker James knows he's not supposed to be in Sunshine, Idaho chasing the one man that got away but he just can't let him go. Much to Parker's surprise Zoe is not like anything her brother said she was and he soon finds himself seeking her out to help him in his mission. As the attraction builds neither one can stay away from each other even though they both know there is no hope for them in the future.

I love this series so much and was so excited to finally get Zoe's story! The book starts off with a bang right away with Zoe mistaking Parker for her blind date and it just gets better from there. I really enjoyed the banter between these two and felt like they actually spent the time to get to know one another and open up about their pasts. Add in their adorable dog and kittens and I was hooked.

There is a lot more action and adventure in All I Want than previous books and it was a great addition. I liked that I couldn't guess what would happen next and all of the twists and turns that the plot took. Zoe and Parker are by far one of my favorite couples of the series and it was a blast to read about them. I highly recommend not only this book but this series for all lovers of romance but especially contemporary fans.

I can always count on Jill Shalvis to give me a well-written, enjoyable story, relateble characters, cute animals, with a heaping dose of romance. All I Want is no different. It was fun watching Zoe and Parker's story unfold and I loved seeing characters from the previous books, too. And I'm a huge fan HEAs!

Fun addition to the Animal Magnestism series.

I love Jill Shalvis and I love her heroes. Parker is definitely at the top of my list now. He's smokin' hot, funny, smart and dangerous. The perfect combo! Zoe has been taking care of her siblings her entire life and now that they have moved on with their lives she doesn't know what to do with herself. She's attempting to fix up her house and she wants to start dating. Her brother invites a friend of his to stay at Zoe's house for a few weeks and when she meets him she does something out of character for her and he's hooked immediately. Parker is in Sunshine, ID on a mission to solve a crime. He's supposed to be on leave from work, but he can't stop. Once he hires Zoe to fly him over the area he has a hard time staying away from her. Their relationship quickly turns into arguing and verbal foreplay. I laughed out loud! Will Parker be able to walk away from Zoe? Can Zoe top her heart from being broken? These two are awesome! Independent, stubborn and sexy! I loved it!

He smiled. She didn't know all of the smiles in his wheelhouse yet, but she labeled this one The Big Bad Wolf.

"I smell something burning," he said.
"It's the cookies."
"I'm pretty sure it's your brain. What's going on, Zoe?"

She had no idea how in the world he managed it, but with him she always felt a whole lot aroused and just a little bit pissy at the same time. It was a special talent of his.

"Zoe, with you, I'm never hard to get. I'm just hard."

This story was adorably awesome! I loved it! Sexy, funny, and sweet, I couldn't read it fast enough! I felt like I was right there, feeling what they were feeling from beginning to end. I was 100% invested!

Parker and Zoe were such fantastic characters. They had awesome chemistry with fun, playful animosity that built and built into combustible heat. I loved learning their back stories and the overall development. I was just filled with so much anticipation while reading, it was extremely witty and I found myself laughing on numerous occasions. This was just such an enjoyable read with all the sparks flying - playful and flirty. There was a fanatic build to the hotness too! I loved it all!

Woven in was an element of intrigue that added a nice amount of drama. I like how it all balanced out. I also loved the animals (seriously! so cute!). There were so many things I could picture in my head and it just made me happy. I really liked the other characters I met as well and am excited there are so many other stories in this series written that I can read.

Great ending. Sweetest epilogue ever. Everything was just so great and I couldn't get enough. This was a story that made me happy and kept me on the edge of my seat with likable characters and a major amount of sexiness. Excellent read!

My review cross-posted from Wit and Sin: http://witandsin.blogspot.com/2015/09/review-all-i-want-by-jill-shalvis.html

All I want is a Jill Shalvis hero! In Parker James, Ms. Shalvis has once again delivered a strong, sexy-as-sin, loveable hero – and this one adopts kittens. How could I not melt over Parker? This USFW special agent infiltrates and takes down wildlife trafficking rings and more, is a loving brother and good friend, and slides right into Zoe’s life, knocking down all her shields. Parker isn’t perfect, but he’s a perfectly delicious hero and deserves an equally amazing heroine to give him the love and sense of home he never knew he needed. He finds that in Zoe Stone, the sister of Parker’s friend Wyatt. Zoe is a hardworking, smart, quirky, funny as hell pilot. She had to take on far too much responsibility at a young age and she’s also been badly burned by love. This means she’s used to being the boss and is afraid to give her heart to anyone, least of all a man who is only in Sunshine for a short time. I absolutely adored Zoe, felt for her, and was rooting for her to take a chance on love with Parker. When she does…well, watch out, because All I Want gets seriously steamy.

All I Want doesn’t just have a sweet and spicy romance – it has laugh-out-loud humor too. Parker and Zoe have absolutely sparkling chemistry and their back-and-forth made me grin. And this wouldn’t be an Animal Magnetism novel without animals, so of course a lot of the humor comes from Oreo the Bernese mountain dog and two crazy kittens. Ms. Shalvis knows how to make readers smile one moment and melt the next, and this is definitely the case in All I Want. Add some scenes involving the James and Stone families and a dash of suspense in the form of an illegal antiquities dealer Parker is determined to catch and you have a truly well-rounded book, one that’s pretty much impossible to put down.

All I Want is the seventh book in the Animal Magnetism series, but you don’t have to have read the previous six books in order to enjoy Zoe and Parker’s story (though the series is fantastic). So whether you’re a longtime fan of Sunshine, Idaho or are visiting for the first time, prepare to sit back and enjoy a wonderfully entertaining romance.
