Ironically, I ended up reading It Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time right after I finished Respect by Jay Crownover. Both books featured May- December romances although the age difference in It Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time was larger. Both books also had the characters reuniting after a time apart and that time apart was led up to by an attempted romantic overture by the heroine which needed badly.  Pete and Adele were apart for seven years before being reunited at the beginning of this book. She was his boss's daughter who would spend the summers hanging around with Pete. However, after the aforementioned overture, their friendship ended and it wasn't until Adele's father's wedding that they meet again. Adele ends up staying with Pete during the wedding and their proximity leads to a physical relationship forming between them. Usually, I'm not the biggest fan of reuniting stories with flashbacks but It Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time does an excellent job of not having the past overwhelm the present too much. Adele is on a trajectory of change in her life and her reunion with Pete comes at a good time. Despite that, they do have struggles to overcome. In addition to simply enjoying both Pete and Adele, I liked that this book took place in Australia. I will admit to look up some of the wildlife causally mentioned in this book and even threatened to show my sister a picture of the huntsman spider I looked up. Overall, I was a fan of this Kylie Scott standalone and highly recommend it.

Got bored.
emotional lighthearted medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Character
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Yes

I couldn't wait for another Kylie Scott novel, and It Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time was a FORBIDDEN romance. Cue heart palpitations!!! I loved the idea of younger woman/older man AND that man was her dad's best friend. 😱😍🔥

I completely L O V E slow burn romances, but I ALMOST called it quits about halfway through. I didn't even feel ANY chemistry between Peter and Adele until they FINALLY did something and it was HOT.

Peter oftentimes drove me CRAZY. I thought he was a jerk for the longest time. Adele felt too immature for her age at times. My FAVORITE character though was Shanti. She was an overall great character!!!

Already can't wait until the next Kylie Scott book!!!

🖋️ SNEAK PEEK ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 3.5 STARS REVIEW 🖋️
Being young and in love you cannot help but misread the feels, the situation, and the person you may be crushing on actions. This is a story of a Adele who has had eyes for her father's friend since she was young. He was always the full package for her and one incident she made her move.

Years pass and that encounter with her dad's business partner is never lived down. Now that Adele is a woman and her feelings still have not changed. However, Pete is seeing more of her to his liking and it is becoming more challenging to be around her.

Adele is a pretty open to her thoughts and a feisty woman when she is around Pete. It is a change to the kind of woman he is not used to dating. Their story is one that will have you wondering and playing in your head their unique relationship.

The entertainment factor of this audio book was good, but I just couldn‘t with the hero. He was certainly hot and a nice person, but did not seem worth the hassle. There is an age gap, which is also the reason for the estrangement. But I don‘t think that was my issue, more that the hero seemed emotionally immature, in contrast to being the older party. We never are in his pov, which did not help. But I am glad they are happy now, of course.

I love a good book by Kylie Scott, she’s one of my favourites, and I have been really looking forward to this one! As per usual with a Kylie book a read it in one day! I love, love, loved Adele - Kylie always creates such great heroines, she was funny, a bit nuts, and not afraid to go after what she wanted.

Pete on the other hand, I sometimes had a few issues with. I really liked him in parts of the book, but in others... I found his indecisiveness really irritating, one minute he was all out, then all in, then all out again... poor Adele, she deserved a lot better than what he gave her! He was really great at all the sex though... *sigh*

I loved Adele’s overprotective dad and her fabulous new stepmother Shanti! I want a Shanti in my life!!! So yeah, other than the hero, I really liked the book as a whole. I’d be interested to see where the future takes these characters maybe 5-10 years down the line. And now the wait begins for the next Kylie Scott book!

The ending was such a let down. Overall a good NA book

review to come.
