Too much angst. No passion.

I just want Scott to return to her lustful, heartfelt zombie fiction.

2.5-3*
I liked the premise and I enjoy most of Scott’s books, but this one didn’t really do it for me.
The chemistry between Pete and Adele wasn’t always there and it also took a wild turn towards the end.
I also thought that way too many important scenes involved the parents, to a point where I said “Okay, no, you wouldn’t say this in front of your father.”

I switched between the audiobook (awesome narrator) and ebook. I enjoyed the characters and the story.

Summers as a teenager for Adele were spent visiting her father in Queensland, but due to owning his own building company, his time to spend with her was minimal. Summers were uneventful until her father's friend and employee Peter took it upon himself to take her on beach and movie trips, from which an unlikely friendship blossomed. Despite the fifteen year age gap, Adele began to fall for Pete, and on her eighteenth birthday pulled a stunt to win his heart that caused her father to banish her from visiting. Seven years later, her father is getting married and it is finally time for Adele to return, and be reunited with Pete. Old burried feelings quickly begin to resurface, and Pete is taken off guard by the much older and mature Adele.

I am still gushing, this was adorable. Kylie Scott accomplished exactly what she set out to do - write a swoonworthy, sexy romance story. And I loved it.
Side characters are not fleshed out and Adele and Pete were a little one dimensional, but they did have development and struggles which made them stick out more than they could have. The flashbacks to their past added to the depth of their relationship, seeing Adele adore him from a young age and understanding the intensity of her feelings. I love a romance with an age gap, and this one was done well. The chemistry was intense from the get go, and the back story gave it something unique. If you want a quick and steamy romance with a little depth, I definitely recommend.

3.5🌟

I love Kylie Scott and have enjoyed everything I have read by her and It Seemed Like a Good Idea fits into that category

18 year old Adele falls in love with her best friend Pete, who is 1t years older than her. She decides that he must feel the same way and things are left awkward and their friendship ruined. Now 7 years have pasted, and she's forced to confront her bad decision-making while she is house guest for her fathers wedding. Things are tense, and she realizes her feelings never changed but can he see her as more than just a kid. Once he does, things heat up, but he has trouble letting down his walls and admitting his feelings.

Kylie Scott sure knows how to write a sex scene. Every scene in this book was fabulously written and steamy goodness. The sexual tension Adele feels around Pete is intense and now that she is all grown up the feeling is mutual. There's more than one pool scene where the tension is high with nothing but swimsuits as the clothing attire.

I almost gave It Seemed Like A Good Idea four stars but the ending was a little anti climactic. I wish Pete coming to terms with his feelings was explored more. It would have been nice for him to show his feeling through his actions. The ending seemed to be abrupt and as a reader I wasn't convinced his feeling were entirely genuine.

Overall Kylie's newest book was an enjoyable experience and I can't wait for her future books!

Books, Coffee & Passion
First of all, I love the title of this book but what really got my attention was the blurb. I mean who doesn’t love a forbidden romance (almost second chance romance too)?
Adele hasn’t been home for seven long years, after a very uncomfortable shirt off show down embarrassment she never came back, but now she’s finally driving home for her dad’s wedding and she’ll be staying at Pete’s house. Pete… her first crush, her first love, her father’s former employee, current business partner, the main reason she had to leave.
Pete is 15 years older than Adele but he’s still holding a grudge after the way Adele had to leave. 7 years later, his business partner is getting married and suddenly he has to play host to Adele since she’s staying in his guest room, they haven’t spoken since she left and to say that things are awkward is an understatement.
Honestly, I was hooked pretty fast and I read It Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time in one sitting, Kylie Scott is an amazing story teller and her stories are so well written, everything just flows amazingly. I love Adele, her personality and her dialogues/monologues are absolutely hilarious, she’s a very strong heroine, she’s funny, holds her own and she’s so open with Pete, it’s almost disarming and refreshing at the same time. She’s definitely the star of this romance! I also loved their chemistry and the fact that Adele had a backbone, she drove Pete crazy and I loved it! The secondary characters were also great, especially her dad’s fiancée but I did struggle a little with Pete. I get that he was broken, that he had issues, I even understand his background, yet he didn’t won me over, not completely. Sometimes, he just didn’t act very mature. Still, I really enjoyed this story. Definitely, not my favorite hero but Adele… Adele is gold! A fun, sexy, beautifully written forbidden romance, with plenty of chemistry, funny moments and fabulous banter.
