I have the paperback but I also used my Spotify premium to listen to this while I worked.

I somewhat empathise with Olive, I'm not in science but I am a woman in tech, precisely only one of two women techs in my company at the moment. And she's on a different part of the company to me so don't work that closely together at all. I've never faced the issues that Olive has to. I don't have to do a PhD (thank god) and I don't have to present very often. I do answer to customers and the business so I do have pressure to be right. Women are judged 5x more than men. It's evident in some aspects of my job. I've had casual sexism and some not so casual sexism.

What I'm saying is I could relate to the FMC and thus I feel this book worked well for me. Their romance was sweet and almost non existing it grows carefully and slowly at least it felt like it when I was internally thinking OH MY GOD get it together.

I can completely see the hype of Ali Hazelwood and I'm excited to get to the other books I also own soon. Hopefully.

My god I loved this book. I read this book all in one day because I couldn’t put it down. It gave me hand butterflies. I will be reading this book again in the future.

This was my second time reading and it was so cute. Ali really made the plot of the fake dating trope really well.
i love the way Adam cares for Ol and the bad broody guy caring for the girl gives me serotonin.
I highly recommend if you want a cute romance book.

INHALED it in one late night spree. Witty, heart-wrenching, fun, it joins the ranks of the few books to make me laugh out loud. Eager to read more from Ms. Hazelwood in the future.

Did not see the crazy hype with this one. Standard grumpy/sunshine story...

This book was like a box of Oreos. You know you shouldn’t eat it. You know it’s bad for you. Honestly it’s really not that great tasting and you could bake much yummier cookies yourself…. So why do you keep eating it? I never read romance, and this book reminded me why. It felt like the Hallmark channel…. Boy meets girl——they don’t plan to fall in love—- oh wait they did—-oh no big conflict scene—-and back together now. I don’t think there was anything profound or amazing about this book, yet I hate to admit I read it quickly. What is it about “will they won’t they” romances that sucks us in? Yuck. Anyways, I’ve filled my romance quota for the next ten years. Oh, and as a disclaimer, there’s one very explicit chapter that I had to skim through. That was it though.

In all honesty, this could’ve been the best romance book out there and I would’ve given the same review. It’s the genre… doesn’t do it for me. Maybe this is an unfair rating, but c’est la vie.
