It’s one of those crest and trough books that lull you into a weird friendship and once it's over, you can't quite decide if you loved it or just liked it enough to give it three stars.

You know when a piece of media feels lovingly tailored to be exactly what you wanted? That's this book for me. Easily in the top 5 books I've ever read

Enchanting but confusing

3.5 stars. Though the story was enchanting and beautifully written, I often found myself lost and confused in the many details. I struggled to keep the many characters straight that popped in and out. Now I will give the disclaimer that I read this book while caring for a newborn, but I do not think my confusion was all due to sleep deprivation. There were so many elaborate details that did not seem to iron out neatly. However, overall it was an interesting story and not predictable which I appreciate. I still found myself rushing through the end wanting to know what happened.

Reading this was like watching a movie in my head. I was disappointed at the end only because I wanted the story to continue. Very visually written a great read!

Its fun, I like the world, there is just something about Morgensterns storytelling that is annoying to me and makes me not like it as much as I could. Same with Starless sea. I enjoyed the world, the ambiance but I just can't love it.
Maybe despising Marco didn't help, since you kinda had to root for him.

I applaud to the readers who felt the magic in this book, because I didn't.
