Holy guacamole! This book is so intense.  This third installment of the ACOTAR series gave us a lot more political world building, which I absolutely loved. It does have a slower pace than the previous two books, and it feels like several stories in one. I can hardly believe the beginning is actually from the same book as the end. The slower pace and length gave me time to be occasionally frustrated with how the author chose to address characters and their flaws. I love Rhysand, but his self sacrificing attitude was not addressed as a flaw nearly as much as it should have been in the 700+ pages of this book (or throughout the series thus far). Nevertheless, the characters and their love for each other and their world was moving and kept me on the edge of my seat til the very end.

Not as good as ACOMAF - I feel like the war at the end is a bit rushed and hurried considering how many characters were involved. If it was split into two books so that the final third could be more flushed out then it would’ve been much better. But I appreciate the continued character development, I thought that the first part in the spring court was very interesting, as well as the development of characters such as Elain, Bryaxes & the other death gods and Amren. Azriel & Mor also shone in this book. Feyre’s character continued to grow (although I think it’s weird that she didn’t fight much at all? I know she had other things to do… but all of that power. Rhys was also a continued ledge, but didn’t have as much page time as expected as the book went on.

I would've liked to hear more about the different courts and their own magic/practices as well as about the beast forms of the High Lords. I also really liked the idea of this book being more class driven like with Feyre’s scheming at the beginning, but because the war was so huge it became impossible to make that a really integral part of the story. C’est la vie!

The plot wraps up really nicely, so it’s a great general closure to this light escapist fantasy series. Intrigued to see where the next two books take us.

There's a lot of war in this book. I'm not a huge fan of it, but I was entertained when Feyre
made friends with 'monsters'.
Fearless as ever!

I feel like we didn't get enough of Rhysand, but maybe I am just being greedy because I want him in EVERY chapter.

SO MUCH DEATH! I got a bit teary-eyed and had to close the book for a few hours before I could open it up again. So many secrets were revealed too!

I can't believe I am saying this, but I can't dislike Tamlin anymore, not after what he did
for Rhysand
, that doesn't mean I like him! He said so many hurtful things!

This may be very unpopular, but I just couldn't stand Feyre's sisters. It was so hard to read when they came up because they were infuriating. Alas, they won me over in the end, but I don't necessarily love them.

What a great book, not sure what happens after this, seemed like a finale to me but I know there are more books to this series. I can't wait to read them!

ACOWAR (especially during the final battle) was INSANE. So much drama and action with Amren, the Suriel, and even poor Rhys 😭 also absolutely OBSESSED with Nesta and Cassian, they’re my biggest couple goals in the book series so far <33

This book was very war focused but it still took a part of my heart. How it all developed. The cleverness in every step. I just finished it and honestly, can’t wait to read it again!

Such a complex and well-written book. It’s broken into three parts but it’s so many stories in one 699 page novel - it’s hard for me to even fathom reviewing it.

I give it five stars, not for the politics and world building and the world of characters (many great new ones we meet). It’s not the same five stars I give A Court of Mist and Fury because it’s more of a war story than romance/slow burn. There is also so much humor and love in a book with a lot of darkness. The found family is everything. And I love the continued growth we get between Feyre & Rhys and their mating bond.

Here is what especially stood out for me:
-Feyre being a spy on the inside in the spring court. Watching her with Tamlin after everything we have learned since Under the Mountain.
-Learning more about Jurian
-Feyre and Lucien repairing their broken friendship and their escape to Velaris.
-More found family moments with Feyre, Rhys, Azriel, Cassien, Mor and Amren, and now Elain and Nesta.
-The library
-My favorite part of the book was the High Lords meeting. We met so many great new characters and got to hear more about the other High Lords and their courts. I really enjoyed this part the most.
-Lucien’s father and “father” WOW
-Cassien pining for Nesta
-Feyre looking in the ouroboros
-The Suriel scene 😭
-The arrival of Queen Vassa, the Archeron sisters’ father and his three boats, the return of Lucien
-The High Lords helping save Rhys
-Tamlin telling Feyre to be happy

I love this story so much and I cannot wait to keep reading the books. I never ever thought I’d be a high fantasy girly but the vivid imagery in this book is just so beautiful and amazing.
