. “The Shadows” had been on my to-be-read list FOREVER, and I can now say I understand the hype. Similar to John Marrs - Author Alex North’s portrayal of a disturbing perspective with dark tones to keep you on your toes— is best described as poetic with characters you can understand on any human level. Even when actions display true evil. Chills!

This was a fun read with a unique story. It got overly clever for a minute, but I still really enjoyed it and would recommend it.

I was not a fan. This book tried to do too much and be too much. It was all at once a crime novel, a bit of a supernatural thriller, a mystery, a tender family drama, and was not successful at any of them. There were far too many insignificant characters that added nothing to advance the plot or deepen the story, and only served as useless distractions.
The only redeeming quality of the book was the relationship between Jenny and Paul, which I thought was beautiful and tragic. The rest was a mess.
