I would have rated this higher had the ending been a little different. the motives of the ending didn’t really make a whole lot of sense to me but i didn’t hate it! it was a little predictable but i liked that it was still mysterious and tense so the predictability didn’t ruin the story. the atmosphere was amazing, the descriptions of every thing down to how the sun felt was absolutely beautiful. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the aesthetic of it. a thriller set in the sunlight and beauty of an island was so unnerving and i haven’t really read anything like it! i highly recommend it!

I realized while reading this that I'm not a fan of non linear timelines and flashbacks. Tom a while to get into the meat of the story but once it got there it wasn't bad!

A fun isolated closed circle mystery set between Hawaii and a deserted island in the pacific ocean. I enjoyed the first 3/4 of the book and it was a fun ride.  However I didn't feel like the ending about the last 1/4 of the book was done well.  It felt a bit well and the conclusion wasn't satisfying for me personally. This is a great beach/ vacation read, or readathon read but I think its forgettable once the fun of reading is over.

Overall, this was a fun change of pace from my usual genres. However, there were a few problems for me.

First, it’s definitely “R-rated”. There’s cursing, death (not a spoiler, mentioned on the inner cover), etc. that may bother some so keep that in mind.
Second, I wish there was more character development. Some of the characters seem a little one dimensional due to the lack of development and exploration. 
Third, I did also feel like there were some issues toward the end. Some of the end character plots left me a little disappointed and confused. A lot of it seemed rushed and almost forced. 

Aside from those issues, the book was a pretty fun and heart racing change. The descriptions of the island are beautiful and the tangled relationships and characters were so fun to “figure out”. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a thriller about a deserted island or someone who wants to pretend it’s not winter.

If you don't take the book too seriously, this is a fun time thriller -  adventure, beautiful people, drama.... I genuinely enjoyed it and sped through it in a couple of hours!
