Reckless Girls is a great thriller with some interesting twists that I did not see coming, intriguing characters, and a fantastic plot that I couldn't put down until I finished.

Rachel Hawkins does a great job building up the tension through the novel though it is a little bit slow in some places.  I love the descriptions and felt like I was right there on Merone Island with the characters.  I really enjoyed the theme of strong women who have overcome tragedy seen throughout the novel.  I also loved the plot twists because there were a couple, I DID NOT suspect which is always nice to find.

I didn't like all the characters, but I did find them to be well-developed and enjoyed seeing all the various flaws each one had.  I also really enjoyed learning all their different backstories throughout the novel.

I highly recommend Reckless Girls to thriller fans, to anyone who likes themes of strong women, and/or anyone looking for a good "locked room mystery" just set on an island instead of a building.

Kind of disappointing.. there was a lot of repetition and stuff that didn’t really make sense. I also thought it was a shame that there wasn’t a single character I wanted to root for. Robby was unnecessary and the island didn’t feel creepy until the last couple of chapters because the flashbacks were kind of random

This book was really fun and I enjoyed it A LOT. However, the “thriller” aspect felt like an after thought tacked onto the end and I think I would have enjoyed it more without that portion.

The book really didn’t even get rolling until there was only like 40 pages left and everything happened SO QUICKLY. Nothing was fleshed out and it felt so disjointed. Like it was an entirely different book I’d just stumbled into.

First like 70% was 5 stars. The ending was like 1 star. So here we are at a 4.

I thought the characters were pretty  unlikable and cliche. The ideas were good but multiple storylines never resolve and the back story that was involved seemed irrelevant. There were some letters or postcards featured in the physical copy that I wish were tied in better but I’m glad they were added- apparently that was the editor’s idea so kudos to her!

A mediocre book, in my opinion. Not great but not bad, either! I enjoyed parts of it but then felt like a lot of the book was filler and not necessary. There was a nice twist at the end, though!

Lux is looking for adventure with her boyfriend, Nico. They meet two girls, Amma and Brittany, who want to charter Nico’s boat to explore an island a few days from Hawaii. Another couple with a larger boat arrive shortly after them and they all hang out. Drama ensues after a few days and things start to take a darker turn.

75-80% of the book was slow and uneventful. Nothing really happened until the last bit of the book. It was interesting enough but I was trying to power through more than I was enjoying the story.

I wasn’t expecting Eliza to be Chloe. But since Chloe was introduced so late it was obvious she was going to play a role on the island.

Also, I didn’t love the ending where everyone just gets murdered. There are “reasons” that they decided to murder, but they were flimsy and just meh to me.
