Hilarious!!! Great story with super fun illustrations, that can also be used as an introduction to narration and differing perspectives. Highly recommended for all ages.

I'm on a roll for having been only mildly entertained by the children's books with supposedly clever tricks that have been nominated for the 2016 GoodReads Choice awards. I saw this one on a best-of-list back in August and thought we'd enjoy it. It was okay.

"You're an awful narrator," Snappsy the Alligator says to the narrator of the book. "You're just describing what you see in the illustrations."

I guess I'm not one to really be thrilled with 2nd person writing and "clever" children's books that take the entire book to get to the punchline. Honestly, I saw this on the bookshelf a few days later and realized I'd forgotten how it ended. I think I'd not check out these "clever" books from the library in the first place without having seen them on some list of magnificent books. Or perhaps my expectations are too high because I see such books in a list of wonderful books and my idea of wonderful children's books are something with an enduring story that begs to be read again and again.

Felt like the author tried to copy Mo Willems' style and failed.

Enjoyable illustrations, especially the endpapers. The story could have been stronger. I'm hoping for another tale.

Pretty entertaining book. Snappsy the Alligator is busy during a pretty normal day, but this time (for some unknown reason) he has a narrator. His increasing frustration with the (inaccurate) narrator were amusing, as was Kathryn decision to narrate her own actions for the next hour.

Another postmodern picture book. I didn't love this one as much as other people seem to.

A lighthearted, funny read, Snappsy the Alligator was a book that had me laughing out loud! Snappsy is a regular alligator going about his life when he is interrupted by a voice who is inaccurately narrating his life. Snappsy is aware that he is in a book despite him not wanting to be, which creates a meta-fiction story that can be new to young readers. Children will enjoy this refreshingly funny story!
