Sam and Martha? I wasn't sure how to feel about Martha getting a book, but I ended up LOVING it. It was a little instant love, well maybe not with the time they had known each other, but things happened fast. My only wish was that it had been a full-length novel. Martha redeeming herself was so fun, as were her interactions with Sam.

Stage Dive is easily my all-time favorite rockstar romance series. What a treat to be able to jump back into this world one more time and catch up with my favorite rockstars while getting a quick romance about a character I never expected!

Martha, Martha, Martha. To say she has an attitude and some bad history with the Stage Dive crew would be putting it mildly, but coming home after a stint in NY to stay with her brother, Ben, is something she needs to do.

Long-time Stage Dive security guard, Sam, isn't Martha's usual type, but her eyes can't help following him whenever he is in the room. It's something Sam has been waiting for. Good thing he's a patient guy. A patient guy with a plan for Martha now that she's back.

Leave it to Kylie Scott to take an antagonist that I really disliked from book one of this series and make me empathize with her by making her dynamic and giving her a strong influence in Sam. But if you haven't read this series, don't worry. This reads well as a standalone. And, to be honest, it may even work better that way as you don't have Martha's previous baggage to deal with.

Overall, I enjoyed this novella as the surprise treat it was. A quickie romance—in some respects too quick—that scratched that itch for more Stage Dive.

[I received a digital arc for an honest review]

I absolutely loved getting to be back with the Stage Dive crew and getting to catch up with all couples. I loved everything about Sam, he was bossy and confident and knew what he wanted. What he wanted was Martha and it didn't bother him that she wasn't there yet. Martha is a b**** and she knows it. She has grown up a lot since her disastrous relationship involving a stage dive member. While she has feelings of attraction for Sam she doesn't want to risk it being more because the last time she let herself care it ended in disaster. When Martha finally lets down her walls, her and Sam are absolutely adorable together, and she finds her place in the Stage Dive family.

As usual Kyle Scott wrote some fantastic sex scenes, the chemistry between Sam and Martha worked. I know this is just a novella but I kind of wanted a little more. I wasn't sure how I would feel about Martha and as soon as she had grown on me I was at the Epilogue. This is a series that I will never get tired or revisiting and I will always want more.

"The man kissed me with a decade’s worth of hunger and longing. I might not have known for quite that long, but I answered him just the same. We owned each other. Mouths fused and hands grasping."

"The desire for Sam was like a constant hum beneath my skin, a warmth spreading through my body at the mere thought of him or the sound of his name."

Books, Coffee & Passion
I loved Kylie Scott’s Stage Dive series and when I saw that she was writing Sam and Martha’s story, even though it’s a novella, I knew I had to read it! If you haven’t read Stage Dive series, let me tell you, you’re missing out!
Honestly, I was excited to read about Sam, but I was still holding a grudge against Martha (Yes, David is my absolute favorite) so I was a little afraid that Martha’s personality would ruin this story for me. That wasn’t the case at all, I’m actually a little surprised about how much I enjoyed it. Sam is GOLD! Intense, smart, manipulative, strong, sweet, sexy, he’s irresistible! Martha is not the most likable heroine, she’s definitely different after a few years but she still is herself. She’s still catty, impulsive and prickly, however she did soften her act and she tried to make a few amends. Sam has had feelings for Martha forever and now Martha’s back with her brother, taking care of her nephew and Sam is just biding his time… Martha is hugely attracted to the quiet, intense bodyguard that sees right through her act and this red hot burning attraction is getting harder and harder to ignore…
Sam and Martha are opposites but they complement each other perfectly, I loved their amazing chemistry, the moments we get with David and Ev, Mal and Anne, Jimmy and Lena, Ben and Lizzy and their son Gibson, the hilarious moments between Gibson and Martha are also amazing and I really loved Sam’s straightforwardness.
Strong is a great addition to this series and it made me wish for a, very possible, spin-off.

This is a great novella to the stage dive series. I devoured this story, I loved seeing the boys again. Highly recommend if you love this series.

Martha and Sam.
In book 1 of the series 'Lick' Martha was portrayed as the 'baddie.
She was Dave's ex that the heroine didn't know about, she'd cheated on him so was not portrayed in the best light.
I love it when an author tries to redeem a character that readers may have felt was irredeemable.
I'm not sure how I feel about Martha to be honest. She is tough and prickly but you can see it's a facade, she's afraid to let anyone in.
Sam loves her as she is, he lets her thinks she's in charge but still gets his way.
There's lots from Mal and other band members plus the history with Dave and Ev is resolved.
As there are lingering issues from her relationship with the band from years ago I would recommend reading the series in order.
HEA.
Epilogue.
No cheating.
No ex drama, scenes of intimacy with anyone other than the Hero and heroine.

“I figured I spent years running around after rock stars, catering to their every whim. How different could it be? So he’s shorter and doesn’t know how to express himself particularly well. All Mal ever did was babble incoherently at me. Some days I basically had to wipe the drool off that maniac’s chin. After him, Gibson should be a dream, right?”
