A step down from the previous books (and from the ones coming), but still a good one.

Has the best Dresden Files opening lines and arguably one of the best opening scenes with the Demon Monkeys. Also has one of the stupidest Dresden Files scenes, when
Murphy has to take her pants off to squeek by the laser field

And Mouse!!!!!!!!!

The stories get better and better. Harry finds family... and gets a dog...

Probably my least favorite one so far, which from what I've read that seems to be the case for most people.

That being said Blood Rites does have it's redeeming qualities. Starting with fleshing out more of the side characters from previous books. Ebenezer, Thomas, and Kincaid all get a good bit of back story development as well as the most information we've gotten on Harry's mom so far.

Now for the negative,

The Murphy having to take her pants off to take a quarter inch off her ass(How thick are her pants?!) to get under a laser, was the most cringeworthy I've read in the series so far. Butcher did bad by his character here.

The case in Blood Rites is the weakest in the series so far, I didn't care about it at all. You could shave the entire thing out of the book and lose nothing of importance to the story.

I'm excited to move on to Dead Beat which I hear is a return to form. Also welcome Thomas and Mouse to the family!

It still has the same problems that I had with the last books, but kinda less. Or I am getting used to them.
The story seemed to have two separate stories running parallel, both seem to be there just to add more pages to the book. I would have liked if the stories would have been a little more connected to each other.
What I liked was that secondary characters started to be more interesting in this book.
Moving from reading to the audiobook was the smart move. James Marsters as a narrator is excellent.

I’ve enjoyed most of the other Dresden Files books, but this one was particularly misogynistic. One could argue that is just “Harry’s character”, but I think that would be a cop out. Every female that came “on scene” was described lasciviously.
