This is one of those books that you can tell was formative for its genre, but because it was formative, many of the twists don’t hit for a modern reader. As with any Christie book, read with caution. There are many stereotypes, slurs, etc. characteristic of her time.

Racist and annoying. The end was better than the rest of the book but it wasn't all that satisfying. It also just felt sooooo long and hard to get through even though it was super short.

Oh my. The science is laughable, the plot is fantastical, and the final scene is unbelievable. Poirot is enjoyable as usual, and I enjoyed having Hastings back!
