There was something I just didn’t like bout the characters. I think the MCs were kind of forced together and there was no real chemistry

Brody and Delilah our mc are in love and simping over their exes willow and drew , literally the entire book is about how they were with them and how much they love them... then they magically fell in love with each other in the last 10%.
I love this book from the first page and read it in one sitting I just couldn't put it down.
Professional Sports Broadcaster Deliah has to interview the new footballer on the Super Bowl team. Walking into the locker room Brody decides he wants Deliah underneath him and everywhere else in between. The chemistry with these two is off the charts, I loved the banter between them and was rooting for a happily every after. They both has issues from their past that they need to work through in order to give their relationship a chance.
Filled with lots of hot action, lots of humour that had me laughing aloud it is a cute easy read.

The Baller by Vi Keeland was my first book by this author. The story between Brody and Delilah was just amazing. I loved the reporter and quarterback story. This book had healing, grief, happy, romance, sadness and love. It was incredible to see how these two characters were both able to overcome grief together and be happy to find happiness. I highly recommend this book.

This is sport-romance and I'm sucker for those.
Anyway, this book is about Brody, swoony-worthy, sexy quarterback, with the biggest heart. He is just the sweetest.
The main female character, sport journalist Delilah, is beautiful, confident, sessy and funny.
They both have difficult past. And they both are dealing with it through the book.
The story was really good, but I, unfortunately, couldn't connect with the characters, nor the story.
I like it really much , though , 'cuz Vi doesn't know how to write bad story.
Overall, a really likeble, fast-paced book with lots of great moments.

The Player è stata la mia ‘seconda possibilità’ alla Keeland. L’anno scorso avevo letto Bossman che mi era sì piaciuto, ma non mi aveva catturata come invece raccontavano le numerose recensioni. Non avevo trovato quella frizzantezza e quell’originalità che mi aspettavo. Avevo trovato una lettura da ombrellone, ben scritta, piccante al punto giusto ma nulla di più.
Quest’anno ho deciso di darle un’altra chance, vista la popolarità delle sue storie e quindi mi sono tuffata su The Player. Devo dire la verità, con questo volume – che mi è piaciuto più di Bossman – ho rivalutato questa autrice che comunque non credo rientrerà mai nelle mie preferite.
Il mio voto rimane comunque positivo, tre stelline piene e anche qualcosa in più. Cosa mi è piaciuto quindi nonostante il mancato feeling con l’autrice? E perché non è sbocciato l’amore (il mio perlomeno)?
The Player è una storia che scorre via, che si fa leggere in un batter d’occhio. I personaggi sono stereotipati, ma stereotipati bene. Permettono al lettore di immedesimarsi nella storia, di ritrovarsi in uno schema che ci si aspetta quando si apre un libro di questo tipo ma senza mai annoiare. La seconda parte del libro, così come era successo con Bossman, scorre fin troppo veloce, in un precipitare di eventi ammassati che confluiscono in un finale che non lascia convinti al 100%. È stato sostanzialmente questo a non convincermi, la risoluzione troppo veloce di una trama che era partita bene, piena di spunti.
Delilah è una giornalista sportiva, figlia di un giocatore di football e alle prese con le sue prime interviste. Delilah è una donna normalissima, con un suo lavoro che le piace ma non un capo che tenta di denigrarla. Vive da sola ed è cresciuta seguendo le partite del padre e si porta dietro le ferite del suo grande amore.
Alla sua primissima intervista negli spogliatoi, conosce Brody Easton, uno dei più famosi quarterback che – indovinate un po’? – è uno schianto. Brody è bellissimo, ovviamente fisicato, pare anche intelligente e simpatico. Piccolo particolare, non ha nessuna intenzione di impegnarsi dopo una storia finita malissimo.
La storia tra i due protagonisti devo ammettere che mi ha presa parecchio. Delilah e Brody sono due persone scottate dall’amore, sfiduciate. Non si sentono pronti a ripartire, i ricordi dei rispettivi amori giovanili sono troppo forti. Eppure cominciano a conoscersi e ad aprirsi e la storia della loro crescita è davvero bella. Purtroppo nell’ultima parte del libro ‘crescono’ un po’ troppo velocemente e le cose si concludono in maniera poco verosimile.
Ho apprezzato comunque questi due personaggi, ironici e chiusi a riccio. Ho adorato le scene in casa di riposo, dove Brody va a trovare Marlene, una specie di nonna, per lui. Marlene è un personaggio chiave nella storia e mi è piaciuto conoscerla un po’ meglio seppur filtrata dal punto di bista di Brody.
Altro punto a favore, il doppio POV alternato, una cosa che nei romanzi rosa mi affascina sempre.
In sostanza un libro divertente e scorrevole, piacevole per passare qualche ora sotto l’ombrellone, ma a cui manca qualcosa. O forse sono davvero io che non riesco ad entrare in sintonia con lo stile della Keeland. Voi avete letto qualcosa di suo?

I enjoy Vi Keeland's books. Like most this was hard to put down. He is a MVP quarterback and she is a sports reporter. They both have complicated histories (normal for Keeland) that they have to work through. I appreciated that the focus of the book was not their work relationship and why they couldn't be together.
