This book has captivated my mind, body, soul with its breathtaking story and characters. Never before have I felt so attached to a story and its' characters. I am so thankful to have gotten to read this masterpiece.

I wasn’t a fan of a lot of the content in the book. It was too gory for my taste and it just made me uncomfortable to read it. How graphic the book gets at times is way out of my comfort zone and while I was recommended this book, it went past a lot of my hard “no’s” for media I want to consume. It really effected my mental health and I just absolutely was not a fan. This book is great for what it is but it’s not the book for me.

body horror is not usually my jam, but i loved the focus on the trans/queerness of monstrosity and accepting your body.

def will need to reread to better savour the book when i am not on a time crunch

Normally I have no problems reading gory horror books, but this one got to me a lot. A religious cult has unleashed a plague on the world, using saving the environment from overpopulation as an excuse. Then, they create a monster to kill any humanity that survives, so that the believers will go to heaven and the earth will repopulate. The story is told from the monster's perspective, and they are trying to run away but it's difficult. Benji falls in with a local LGBTQ center that is barely holding on. They have their secrets too...

It's a powerful book. I can see why people say it reminds them of Pet, because I felt that too. It just was a lot of horror for me.
