Okay so I at first I was really into this like "wow what a great book", "love the anticipation what a great way to do cliff hangers". Finished the book still kinda hyped for it. Then sat and thought about it for all of 3 min and changed my mind.

I think I got too caught up in what I was reading to be real about it. The plot was hard to follow as mentioned. This probably shouldn't been #YA with all the reproduce nonsense. Why is there always a #lovetriangle?! Like big surprise Alien. Boy. Girl. Of course she goes with the alien. Who by the way is just as bad as the boy she doesnt want to sleep with. Both essentially locked her up. All of the other characters are largely forgettable. Used to further the plot for 30 secondsAnd then fade away into the background until needed again even though they each have at least one chapter in their POV. Also how the hell did Leon get through the water before them to run away without them if he started after?! This human zoo idea could have been so good. But lame plot devices, weak characters, a plot that isn't a plot kinda kill it for me. Buuuut with that said I think I'll read the second one beacsuee I'm a sucker for punishment.
There is still so much I don't understand about this. Is earth gone? Is psychic good or bad? Why do people only care about looks? Not only aliens but ghosts maybe?? Why do they need the babies and what are they doing with them? If it really is for humanity and arts and culture blah blah they wouldn't take the babies because how would they learn all of that? The babies would just be weird humans. I'm just lost and confused and wouldn't really recommend this book.
It's good and exciting at first. Kinda like a hunger games thrill and rush. What would you do if you lived in a zoo?! But then given any time to think about it and holes start appearing in the bottom of your boat.

This book was WEIRD. There was no way for me to possibly expect this, because it felt like it came out of nowhere. I lost my suspension of disbelief very early on because everything is completely random and ridiculous. I can’t take this book seriously.
Maybe 3.5...Not sure though... (2020-Nope. Solid 3. Best I can give it)
I sort of enjoyed this but also hate parts I really did not like. A lot of the book felt over messaged (the whole being treated the way humans treat animals concept is starting to get annoying). BUt with aliens, I feel it a bit more acceptable of a twist. Especially when aliens are mostly more advanced. I liked the mystery of why they were there, whom to trust, etc. I was not a big fan of the characters through much of the book. Cora often got overemotional, Leon loses it, Lucky acts like a puppy following whomever seems to be his master in the moment. At first Rolf seemed okay, but he goes way downhill, and Nok I could not stand! I probably liked Mali best. The whole setup they live in is both strange and interesting with the mix of environments, time and place settings all mixed together. There were times early on, I was bored and almost DNFed it. I am glad I pushed on, as it did get better overall with an end that has me wondering what is to come.
2020-Okay, so nitty-gritty. I liked the flow of the story. It just moves. I decent balance of description, action and character development. Or is it character de-evolvement? These characters, for the most part, get worse. Although I am not sure how much is their fault or the aliens... Still, it gets annoying! I love to hate on a character but I don't like hating them all for being annoying and stupid! This really borders on being a flop for me. The only reason I even re-read it is that I don't remember what all happened, especially in the end so I am trying to go through them again. I plan for this to be the last time.

everyone in this book makes ridiculous decisions based on flawed logic and sticks to them despite the obvious reasons they shouldn't. ITS SO ANNOYING. UGH. Would not recommend.
I've said this to you all before, so it should come as no surprise – I don't read the synopsis a lot of the time when I choose a book. I instead judge it by it's cover *gasp* yes I admitted that out loud. I also judge it based off it's author, because there are some authors I will read anything by, no matter what it is. This is one of those authors. And THE CAGE is one of the those books.
I'm glad I didn't look at it before hand. If I had read even the first line, I would have been deterred and I would have missed out on this awesome book! I can't even tell you why I would have been deterred, because when I look back I have always enjoyed the books about aliens that I have read.

Nichts überraschendes, dennoch etwas, was interessant werden könnte.

3.5 stars ... I’m really torn on how I felt about this book. I enjoyed it, the pacing was super fast, which I always appreciate. It fell squarely in the YA realm, complete with love triangles and infatuations. All that said, there was a twist, a few twists- some minor and one more major- that felt a little bit forced. Overall it was a quick read that entertained me and kept me coming back to finish the story.
