Adam!!!!!

If you're new to this series, you'll be fine reading from here BUT I would strongly advise starting from the beginning. These stories are best read in order.

Holy moly, Adam! You gave us a scare in book 1. I honestly didn't think you'd get to this point. I'm so happy you did! You deserve an HEA and so does Maddie!

Slow Burn is the perfect title for this novel. Adam and Maddie are slow going. But oh the longing...

I'm just stupidly happy Adam finally finds his way. I'll be over here smiling in the corner and devouring Frankie's book!

Maddie and Adam were definitely a Slow burn!
I liked that they had a mutual attraction, that they were intrigued with each other - that they calmed each other while heating up the sheets.

I seriously wanted to hurt Maddie's dad a few times. He was infuriating... well until everything clicked into place. Then, I understood.
I really admired Maddie's drive and decision to pursue her dream, even if it did cause ripples in her family. That passion and flair for her art definitely shone through the pages.
I liked watching Adam slowly lower his walls and open himself up to possibilities, to let Maddie in and to take a few chances for her. They complimented and suited each other so well.

Sheldon was a nice touch, I love animals in books. Even though he didn't seem like my cup of tea, his personality made me laugh. Trust a dog to be the spark in this fire!
It was also nice to see Eli, Zoe, and Molly (from the Willow Creek Series) make an appearance too.

Soo good!!

I had been seeing a lot about this book and it was on my TBR for a while before I finally read it and I wish I did it sooner!! This was the best book I’ve read in a while! I loved everything about it and their struggles, especially Maddie’s, felt really relatable, which just helped me connect with the characters even more. If you’re thinking about it, please check it this book! I literally couldn’t put it down!!

Adam is a man that has been through a terrible thing in his life and it has permanently left scars on the inside as well the outside. He is a broody guy that can’t run from his past, the guilt, and anger. So, when he moves to a new to town to try to start over, he never expects Maddie his overly cheerful neighbor to break down the walls he has created. Maddie is a sweetheart that wants to follow her passion in dance but with her family not supporting her she feels as if she as if her dreams will never come true, but she is hopeful and caring. Maddie somehow starts to break down Adam’s moody demeanor and they slowly build a friendship of sorts and things seem to be going well but will Adam’s insecurities and demons that haunt him always stand in the way of what could possibly be more for them? I loved their story and seeing Adam slowly get life back in him while Maddie started chasing her dreams.

Slow Burn by A.K. MacBride is an enemies-to-lovers romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Kelli Tager and Gregory Salinas.

This is the second book in the Breathing Hearts series and can be read as a standalone.

This is the third book of A.K.'s that I have read and its definitely won't be my last. I was hooked from the very beginning and couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. I loved the relationship that bloomed between Adam and Maddie.

I can't wait for the next book in the series Wild Fire to be released on October 28, 2021 so I can get Frankie's story.

Kelli and Gregory did an amazing job on the narration. They both really know how to bring a story to life. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

I would highly recommend this book if you love enemies-to-lovers romance, contemporary romance or age gap romances.
