When I am not reading this series, I am thinking about reading it. There is no escape!

Despite really terrible name, well plotted and exciting. Characters set up well for multiple different romance possibilities. Good beach book.

I usually don’t like urban fantasy, but this one really works for me. I really like the play between magic and technology and there’s enough “why” and “how” to make the world believable without shoving a bunch of exposition or specialized jargon at you between action scenes. You can tell this was an early work of the authors, it’s a little abrupt at times and uneven with the pacing, but it’s interesting enough to keep you dug in despite it.

Liked this book a lot. Reminded me of early Anita Blake, which is just awesome. And Curran is a lot more likeable than Richard, lol!

As a true sci-fi fan with a boyfriend who loves fantasy and recommended this book, I started reading this book with doubt not knowing if I would like it or not. Would 'Magic Bites' be my cup of tea? And honestly, I have to say this book in its true essence is just good! It's very interesting and has a good pace. As a reader you're hooked to know how the story will further develop. However, I am not used to a lot of different types of creatures and sometimes I had issues with remembering who is who and what group they belong to and what they did throughout the story. I think this is something I personally have to get used to. Overall, I had a very nice read and will definitely read the following books in this series. Maybe, I'll even become a fan of fantasy along the way

If you've ever lived in Atlanta and are amenable to urban fantasy, you'll enjoy this post-apocalyptic magical take on what's basically a film noir mystery. This book does a great job setting up the world-building for a series while also completing the story in this book (not always done these days!). I really enjoyed Kate and the other characters. The story kept me thinking, and there are clearly some mysteries left to solve, even though the main mystery of this book was finished. It was a large cast of characters, and listening to the audiobook did make it a little hard to keep track of who was who and affiliated with which organization, but overall a great listen/read!

The authors incorporate mythology from diverse settings in a fun and unique way, but there are some darker elements, though they aren't described in too much detail, so if violence,<spoke>sexual assault or animal abuse is difficult for you to read, you can skim those elements without missing anything.
