I had hopes for this book but was disappointed. Emma was supposed to be strong despite her disability and to a certain extent she was but not with Samuel. I get that she was raised in a world where men dictate everything but what annoyed me was that she knew she was being a pushover and still just accepted it or moved on like nothing had happened when they didn’t even discuss it. Then there was Samuel that had a couple of issues and one of the biggest ones starts to get resolved towards the very end which is something that takes a long time to overcome so it was annoying that it was glassed over. I didn’t love both MCs. Also, it wasn’t written the best.

There’s something about this mafia world that has me hooked but lately it’s not hitting. This book had potentially but it ultimately fell flat. The resolution of his addiction was very rushed and she was much too forgiving which isn’t uncommon in these types of relationships but it was still frustrating to see. Their love wasn’t believable to me. There was definitely friendship but I just didn’t buy there being a romantic connection. I wish the FMC had more development within her own story. There was little to no mafia drama and that aspect was missed.
