This was far different than I thought and that I was used to from this world but honestly I was a fan. I really enjoyed their relationship and I had been waiting so long for this. The ending felt a little easy and rushed but other than that I had a great time.

1.5⭐
This book was just a series of the same thing happening again and again.
The fmc was basically a doormat and bob the builder in my opinion.
The chemistry was definitely missing, the author tried but it felt so forced .
There was wayyyy too much push and pull which frustrated me to lengths and i think the book was way longer than necessary.
All in all, this was a very below average read for me.

Nothing happens for about 80% of the book. And a small complaint -
Quitting alcohol cold turkey can literally kill you. Without a proper detox, our MMC was in real danger. (Source - interned at a treatment center)

Honestly, this wasn’t one of my favorite books by Cora Reilly. For about 80% of the story, not much really happened. It mostly followed an arranged marriage slowly evolving into a real one, but the pacing felt too slow. Samuel just didn’t stand out as a strong male lead for me. Despite his
struggles with addiction
, which became quite apparent early on, I didn’t like the way he interacted with Emma.

I understand what the author was aiming for:
portraying the reality of living with addiction and disability.
And while there were definitely some heavy, emotional moments, the execution didn’t quite land for me. I also didn’t love that
Samuel only changed because of Emma. I would’ve much preferred to see him come to terms with the trauma of his best friends' deaths and his sister’s kidnapping on his own.

Another thing that didn’t work for me was how heavily the relationship focused on
sex, especially after Samuel quit drinking. I get that they were newlyweds, but the amount of intimate scenes felt excessive and didn’t really serve the storyline.
The emotional depth they were trying to build could’ve stood stronger without so many of those moments.

And I have to say, the number of times Remo Falcone or the Falcone brothers were mentioned was unintentionally funny.
I kept thinking something significant would happen involving them, but nope, nothing at all!
Like, why is his name constantly being brought up then? 😂

I gave this book 2.25 stars because the potential was there, but I just wanted more character growth, especially for a story tackling such serious themes.

I've been eagerly awaiting the release of this book, especially the audio version, for years. The story has been hinted at for a while, but it's finally here! The story is Centered  around Emma, who becomes wheelchair-bound and faces the challenges of being part of a mafia family. Meanwhile, Samuel, the future underboss of the Outfit, struggles with the betrayal of his twin sister, Serapina, which resulted in the death of his friends. Turning to alcohol to numb the pain, Samuel's walls are broken down by Emma, leading him to find hope and light at the end of the tunnel.

𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐚 𝐑𝐞𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐲 has crafted some incredible books and some of my very favorite characters, but Emma, the female main character, is special. She has substance. Emma's resilience, intelligence, and calm demeanor make her a standout character. On the other hand, Samuel proves to be a complex and controlled character, whose layers are peeled off over time.

And we have to talk about the dual narration! Both 𝐂𝐉 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 and 𝐋𝐮𝐜𝐲 𝐑𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫 did a wonderful job bringing this much-anticipated story to life. If you're a fan of mafia romance and familiar with Cora Reilly's Mafia world, this audiobook is a must-listen. While previous knowledge of the series is not necessary, diving into "𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐚 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐬" can provide a deeper understanding of the Outfit and Camorra's history.

Special thanks to Cora Reilly and The Next Step PR for this audio copy. All thoughts shared here are my own.
