A Touch of Fate

I’ve been waiting for this book for so long, and in my honest opinion, it’s a solid 3.7. I was expecting more than I received there was so much that could’ve been done with the story that just didn’t deliver. I’m not saying the book was necessarily bad, but with a bit more tension and chaos, it could’ve been a lot better. And when I say chaos, I don’t mean treating the FMC like trash I mean the world around them. There could’ve been more fun, interesting, and emotional scenes that pulled the book together and gave it more weight.
The pacing was definitely a problem. The beginning started off slow, and the ending was too fast. Samuel and Emma’s relationship felt more like respect and kindness than true love and chemistry. I don’t know maybe that’s just me. I binged the book, and that’s the thing about Cora: even if the story falls flat or isn’t as strong, I’ll still binge through and keep reading. Now, I have to give props to my queen Emma. She was the balance I love to see in a FMC feminine but sharp-tongued, and her communication skills were so fucking refreshing. I’d love to see more female leads like her in future books.
If you’re thinking about reading the book, I’d say go for it. It’s worth a try. There were definitely things Samuel did that I didn’t love, but the whole point of the book is showing how people can be imperfect and still grow together and that part, it delivered. I just wish there was a little more tension, because some parts did feel a bit boring. Still, overall, it’s a good read. You might actually enjoy it.
And for the love of God please don't give Gianna a book because the male character sounds like an arrogant whore with no personality other than his dick, ill pass on that.

Things I liked:
  • Dare I say, a return to form? This was the first new release I’ve liked by this author in a while and I’m so relieved.
  • Emma’s character was SO fascinating to me. I loved seeing her experience with disability and all of the messy feelings involved with it. She was so softly strong and I loved that about her.
  • I enjoyed revisiting a familiar cast of characters in different circumstances. Danilo in particular was fascinating to me this time around. Samuel’s story with his friends was also good. Truthfully I forgot about those events and it really showed how potent grief can be.
  • This book made me SO curious about Samuel’s parents because they seemed very in love.
Things I didn’t like:
  • I knew it was coming the entire time, but I was still so disappointed when Samuel drank and drove. I was so frustrated with him and with Emma for getting in that car. I think that was the point but still.
  • I really wished we saw more of how things developed with Serafina. Little teases hear and there.

~A Touch Of Fate~Cora Reilly~

~Dual Narration~C.J. Mission & Lucy Rivers~

~Produced By~Erin Spencer at One Night Stand Studios~

"I wanted to touch him with a despaired longing I was entirely unfamiliar with, but he didn’t feel like mine to touch yet. I was his, by law, by tradition, and because he’d claimed me as such, but he didn’t feel like mine. I wondered if he ever would."

♡This was my first read by Cora Reilly & I really enjoyed it! This was a sweet, spicy, slow-burn m@fia romance with two mcs that went above & beyond for one another & truly touched fate.

The narration for this audiobook was great! I love Lucy & she was the perfect narrator to bring Emma our strong & determined FMC to life. C.J. is a new to me narrator & I thought he did an amazing job at bringing Samuel our emotionally unavailable m@fia heir MMC to life.

I you like slow-burn m@fia romances with loads of tension & characters that would do anything for the person they love look no further♡

~As Always Happy Reading~
