I had to stop.
I get really annoyed by books where characters make ridiculous decisions.
Holly not telling anyone whilst in hospital that the visitor wasn’t her boyfriend, even after considering how much easier it would be if she just said something completely infuriated me.
The police not being there and involved was just so ridiculous. A media darling was filmed after an attack and the photos splattered all over the internet and there is no police presence even to just interview her when she wakes up? He could have been a complete madman running round on a knife (scapel) wielding rampage for all they know.
Holly doesn’t seem to have the wherewithal to just get the ball rolling on protecting herself, he’s been in her house, he’s been standing over her prone sleeping body. I just don’t see it, she’d be phoning ANYONE to come help her and involving the nice nurse if she thought she could prevent him coming back.

woah I really enjoyed this! It's a very different take on the thriller genre.
No serial killers or fragile detectives playing cat and mouse here.
Though dragging at times, it became really suspenseful towards the end and the ending was pretty satisfying.
I think it might still be eligible for prime reading (at least in Germany) so if you're interested, you might just be able to read it for free.

Holly is a social media sensation. Health food blogger, role model and the perfect advocate for clean and healthy eating, living life to the full. She's overcome cancer and is everybody's favourite internet reality star. Except, she has a huge secret. A secret that would bring her world crashing down around her if it were to be exposed. When Holly is viciously attacked by a man she doesn't know, she starts to suspect that he may know that she is actually living a lie.
This psychological thriller had me gripped from the first page. I loved the alternating chapters between Holly and Tyler especially the 'then' chapters. I can't say I really liked either of the main characters but then they were who they were - a fraudulent internet celebrity and a troubled and violent doctor. Not people you really endear to. The way the author used social media as the centre of the story worked really well and it's quite frightening to see how easily it can be used against you and how it can take over your life.
"Shame On You" is a very clever, fast paced modern thriller with a very up to date and recognisable theme especially considering the many 'fake news' articles that appears regularly online these days.
The author Amy Heydenrych is an excellent writer who engages with her readers and holds their attention, I for one was hooked immediately.
I highly recommend this psychological social media thriller and I'd happily read more by this talented author again.

A fast thriller centred around one girls ambitions on social media. I found Holly’s character hard to relate time, and much of the plot predictable, but overall it was an okay read!
Thank you to Netgalley and Bonnier Zaffre for an advance e-copy in exchange for an honest review.
Holly is an online ‘celebrity-blogger’ whose Celebrity Status crumbles after her face is slashed by a stranger who claimed she was a fraud.
Why was Holly slashed, and what secrets is she keeping hidden from her adoring public?
The novel starts of well with Holly meeting a handsome stranger and hitting it off with him, when suddenly he slashes her. Neither she, or we the reader, have any idea why. There are two narrators, Holly the blogger, and Tyler. Holly, cancer survivor healthy eating advocate; and Tyler who bears a grudge. Through the story, it explores the negative effects of social media, but both Holly and Tyler are very unwell people. In fact, in areas of the novel Holly is truly awful.
The plot works well and it is an enjoyable read.

It would be better if the whole book was written from Tyler's POV. All those modern authors adopt this one chapter one character schtick and it is getting old. The story is OK but the setting is too 'touristy'- the author is from SA and the book is peppered with London and UK's iconic locations which in a way makes it a bit amusing (of course the events had to happen around Portobello road, Camden town and Lake district). The world of Instagram influencers is described well I guess (not that I can testify to that). All in all I found the book entertaining but underwhelming.
I really enjoyed the way the author explored the concept of being "Insta-Famous" and the depths people will go to to be popular and loved, particularly online.
Shame On You's plot is extremely engrossing and is unlike anything I've read before. Psychological Thrillers would be one of my favourite genres but a lot of the time I can find myself feeling a sense of deja-vu as they can be very "samey". This however has a very unique plot which kept me reading.
The two main characters - Holly and Tyler are very complex. The author really makes you go through a plethora of emotions as you learn more about them. You catch yourself thinking "well, I can understand why they did that..." but you still may not like them. I thought the characters were extremely well written. Although some of the little inconsequential choices Holly makes in the book annoy me (the locks Holly! The locks!!!) and I scratched my head a bit?!
The ending was good but I think I expected a bit more, although I feel like there is probably a second book coming which I would 100% most definitely read!
This book gets three and a half stars for me as it was well written, pacey and the characters are complex and make you really think.

Disclaimer - I fully understand the author put a lot of work in to this and I am no way taking away from that, this is just my personal opinion and I do plan on giving this to a friend who I hope enjoys it.
This book had so much potential but I just didn’t like it.
Holly is a health blogger who bet cancer by doing an all natural diet.
Tyler is a doctor who was in love with Frankie who died of cancer following the diet Holly swears cured her.
The first chapter does drag you in to the story although I do think in this day and age no women would willingly go out with a man she met in a coffee shop that morning and spend the whole evening with him. It would have been more believe-able if she got his number and then went on a date with him. In a book about the internet, texting and sharing you life with the world it glossed over the fact she didn’t even get his information and look him up.
The first 100 pages of this book were interesting and thought provoking, does one really show their true self on social media? Can one person change your life so much you become a monster.
Tyler attacks Holly because he believes she is the reason for Frankies death after this we get about another 100 pages about how they feels and a little in to there past. Tyler lost his mother to cancer and Holly was abused by her father. Yet most of the details we were told could have been edited down to 50 pages. I didn’t see the point having Tyler then and now. Holly then and now because we could have been told about there past from the present.
I feel this book could have been edited down because not a lot happened, I got bored and just wanted to see the end result but had to force myself to read it.
The only character I felt that was fully fleshed it was Zanna the amazing publicist to Holly. There felt like a lot of filler and not enough story. Now I don’t need to like a main character to like a book but Holly and Tyler were unlikable, boring and just not great narratives to follow.
There’s only so many times I care to read about vegan food, or go over Holly’s lies.
The ending was not worth it, no one learned anything, no one changed, the out come was Tyler being killed by Holly and I just didn’t care because I didn’t like either of them.
I just didn’t vibe with this book but I do feel like the author will do good things in the future with her writing just hope they are edited down to the good parts.
