Morgan Elizabeth never disappoints, and I should’ve known that the moment I read my first book by her last year. One thing you can always count on in an Morgan Elizabeth book? Banter? Check. Spice? Oh, absolutely. Female friendships? The best. Revenge? Served hot. FUN? In abundance. CHAOS? Thriving. And of course—PINK. So much pink, and I adore her for it.
Passenger Princess is exactly what the title promises—this book grabbed me, tossed me in the passenger seat, and sped off at 100 mph with zero brakes. The FMC? A menace. The MMC? A goner for her. The chemistry? Flaming. The drama? Immaculate. Every page felt like the literary equivalent of a high-speed, wind-in-your-hair, screaming-laughing adventure with your besties hyping you up.
If you love your romance books with a side of chaos and a full-course meal of SPICE, this one’s for you.

(ARC) Passenger Princess by Morgan Elizabeth
Body Guard/Grumpy Sunshine/Forced Proximity
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I read this book on the drive back from Steamy Lit Con AS a passenger princess (shout out to @heemsreads for toting my ass around), and it was exactly what I needed to top this weekend off. It was funny; it was sexy; and it had some fun twists and turns I wasn’t expecting!
Ava is the newest Miss Americana going on a 3 month long press tour, and this tour comes with its very own grumpy (yet very sexy) bodyguard who is already sick of Ava’s shit. Jaime never wanted to work for a beauty queen and certainly didn’t want to have his job threatened every time she challenged the behavioral clause in her contract with Miss Americana (when, not if). Their chemistry was palpable and intoxicating from their very first encounter (“See ya later, big guy” with a little chest pat will inadvertently wander into my mind anytime I talk to an attractive stranger now). I loved seeing their relationship progress and grow throughout the story and getting to see them exploring themselves and each other, especially highlighting the little smidge of “sex coach”that was snuck in there.
I have a sneaking suspicion that Harper’s story is next, but regardless, I’m so excited to continue reading whatever Morgan Elizabeth throws my way

So happy to have finally read the first book of the series that started my love for morgan’s books. I havent read anything about pageantry in the world of romance so this made me very excited. I lovee watching pageants most particularly miss universe. Ava’s platform and her relatability was what hooked me to begin with. The building chemistry she had with jaime was palpable and i was eating it upp. The antagonists of the story were very well done. They were annoyingly effective and i couldnt wait for everyone to pay for their sins and get my happy ending for ava. That ending proposal was so cute! Jaime bending over backwards for ava has got to be the standard guys. Never settle for anything less!

Forever hunting for a Morgan Elizabeth book that I'll love as much as The Playlist but none of them click for me 🥲
This was definitely one of my top bodyguard romances!
If you loved Miss Congeniality then you will love this book.
The banter Morgan Elizabeth writes between the main characters is always so good! Jaime and Ava had me kicking my feet

Passenger Princess is book one in the Evergreen Park series. Ava has just won Miss Americana and is scheduled to go on a three-month press tour for it. To make sure she doesn't break the morality clause, she is assigned a bodyguard to be there for it. It's more to make sure she doesn't mess up than for her protection.
Jamie is nearing his retirement from being a bodyguard. He is usually assigned to a rock band. When they are not touring, he gets reassigned to other celebrities -- a feisty pageant queen is definitely not in his wheelhouse.
Part of the contestant's outdated rules is that Ava cannot have a boyfriend during her reign. This does not bode well for her when she starts falling for her grumpy bodyguard.
I listened to an advanced listeners copy narrated dually by Emma Wilder and Stephen Dexter. These two are perfect choices for these characters. Emma is the best at being sassy and flirty. Stephen narrates the growly, grumpy voice perfectly.
Thank you to Must Love Audio for the advanced readers copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This was too stinking cute. Super low stakes and all the feel good romcom goodness. I had a silly good time from start to finish. Ava and Jamie's story was so much fun to read. It was kind of giving Miss Congeniality vibes (Ava being Miss New Jersey, and Jamie being her bodyguard) which is always a favorite.
Ava is an absolute GEM throughout the entire book. I love that she is so authentically HER from start to finish. She's spunky and personable and entered the beauty pageant in order to help out her friends (unlike the rest of the contestants who entered for themselves).
Then you have Jamie...who is stoic and structured and the quintessential bodyguard type who absolutely does NOT want to cross business with pleasure.
Both Ava and Jamie have something on the line from their respective organizations and they both work together as a team to support each other and come out on top in the end.
Tropes:
- Grumpy x Sunshine
- He's her bodyguard
- She's a beauty queen
- Forced proximity
- Slow burn
Favorite quotes:
“Funny thing is, unlike you, I’m exactly like other girls, and I’m grateful for that. I love being relatable and approachable. I like pink frilly things, bows, and makeup. I love getting my fancy coffees, reading my silly little romance books, and listening to the same music as other girls because it’s fun. The only difference between me and other girls, like, say, you, is I don’t judge people for what they do or do not like. I just let them live their best lives and cheer them on.”
“Don’t fall in love with me, big guy, okay?” I ask, reaching up and patting his cheek. His jaw goes tight.
“I promise that won’t be a problem.”
“Is that a challenge?”
For the first time, he smiles back. From here, I see one dent in his cheek. A dimple. “Do your worst, Princess.”
Everything this woman does rubs me in a way that makes me want to simultaneously strangle her and drag her into a room to fuck her until she can't argue with me anymore.
“All the best girls have tummy issues, Jaime.”
“Because have you met men these days? I barely trust them to take me to dinner, much less choke me while they fuck me.”
"This is how it works, Ava. I kiss you. Every time, I kiss you, and I do it in a way that you can never forget what it's like to be kissed by a man wholly and completely obsessed with you."
Are your friends really friends if they don't hate who you hate with a fiery passion?
I'm Ava motherfucking Bordeaux. I won an entire nationwide pageant on a whim. I can handle a bunch of petty ass bitches who think they're better than everyone.
“I’ve been calling you princess, but maybe I should have been calling you queen all along. Let me kneel before your majesty.”
