I love a great crime/mob book. Family, loyalties, double crossing’s, criminals with a set of morals and lines they won’t cross, and federal agents who don’t, this has it all plus Winslows writing. I eat this stuff up like candy

Fun read with cool ties to Homer’s Iliad, but it never fleshes out anything too much and in my opinion moves too quickly. It seemed like some of the logistics were glossed over. Some character just weren’t super fleshed out and some relationships didn’t take time to develop. Some of the emotional and story pay off just didn’t hit for me. Super quick and easy to read tho

Set in Rhode Island I thought this was something I’d like because I have a soft spot for New England books. The splattering of racism just to be racist (where did talking about black people eating fried chicken add to the plot?) and the messy drama just for a higher word count really made the book harder to read. I liked the ensemble of characters so you did get a view of different people but the book wasn’t a thrilling page turner. There were parts of the story that could have twisted and turned but in the end it fell flat for me.
