Finished within an hour or two of starting and I typically only read longer, slower pace books. Spice doesn’t lack. But Wendy is wrote so poorly. It makes me feel like we just hate women??

Review:
While the premise of a Peter Pan retelling initially intrigued me, this book fell short of my expectations. The pacing was quick and the fantasy backstory was genuinely interesting—it introduced a version of Neverland I hadn’t seen before. But beyond that, the story struggled to hold my interest.
The main character lacked depth. Her identity felt almost entirely wrapped up in her sexuality, and while there were hints of a traumatic past, they weren’t developed enough to make her feel fully fleshed out or sympathetic. The repeated emphasis on her being the daughter of a prostitute felt unnecessary and reductive.
Audiobook-wise, the voice acting was inconsistent. While most narrators were okay, I didn’t enjoy the voice of Bash, and overall the performances lacked emotion, which made it harder to connect with the story.
The cliffhanger ending didn’t feel earned—the plot just wasn’t compelling enough to make me want more. While the book had a few promising elements, I won’t be continuing the series.

summary: author writes bad fan fiction. zero stars.
This was a damn good time. I have read several hook retellings, but the fact that this was actually Peter Pan was *Chef’s kiss.* this was a wild ride and I loved it and I can’t wait to dive into book 2.
