Epic, amazing conclusion to an equally as amazing series. All the plots are neatly tied in a very efficient yet also emotional way.

Journey into Mystery by Gillen is definitely meant to enter my "favourite comic series/arc" list. And remain there. Forever.

This volume wraps up Gillen's run on Journey Into Mystery. Like the other books in the series, this is full of wit, humor, and heart. If your heart isn't ripped out by the end, then you may not have had one to start. Gillen has made Loki endearing and lovable while balancing his mischievous nature. I can't wait to see what he does with Young Avengers in January.

It’s fine, but I really need to let go of my aversion to Keiron Gillen. He seems harmless enough but just because I detested Phonogram as much as I did (which is A LOT) I can’t blame the more sense and confusing bits of this purely on him. It’s entertaining but the plotting feels a bit like someone spending several pages tying an elaborate knot and then several more pages undoing it even more elaborately. Seemingly every other page has Loki go “Ah! Of course!” and put together some kind of plan that makes sod all sense if you haven’t read the comics around it. And the denser it is the less you actually care about what’s happening. Fraction is probably equally to blame for it all though

OMG Right in the feels! Through the journey Kieron made me truly love Loki, and this conclusion is so bittersweet! I can't wait to see what he does with the Young Avengers.

I enjoyed this a lot, loved the new take on Loki's character and how he's still kind of conniving but in a different sort of way! I did find Thor's storyline a bit boring in comparison though, most of the time i was speeding my way through the Thor ones to get back to Loki because it felt like thats where everything important was happening

i was pretty lost throughout this. as the title suggests, everything is on fire, which seems simple enough, except it is absolutely not. everyone and their mother is somehow involved in this and people keep flipping between good and bad and making all kinds of confusing deals and it’s just too much.

THAT LAST ISSUE OF JIM THO? oh my fucking god. that maybe singlehandedly redeems this entire volume. that was BRUTAL i was sobbing a little bit by the end. that panel where thor and loki were hugging and thor said “you really are the biggest, sweetest idiot in the whole nine realms”?????? the panel where loki and leah were laying in the field together???? that page where his face is covered in blood, tears streaming down his face as he kneels in front of the fire and the helmet of the original loki and he says “i win”.. ARE YOU KIDDING ME????????? that was painful. this whole thing was painful. but what a beautiful ending. definitely one of the best endings to a comic book story that i’ve ever read. absolutely jaw dropping and heartbreaking and incredible.

Oh shit. This is where everything goes to Hel. (Metaphorically, and also a little bit literally.)

The World Tree is aflame. Creatures possessed by a demonic fire lay waste to the nine realms. Loki must scheme as he's never schemed before to save everyone—or indeed anyone. This is a breakneck race against the oncoming destruction of everything, tying together elements from all Kid Loki's previous adventures.

And at the end, it answers all your questions. (The answer, of course, is always Loki.)

I can't go into too much detail without giving everything away, but I will say that Loki's ending is back at his beginning, and makes so much sense, and is genuinely heartbreaking.

A proper finale to the run, rare enough in superhero comics, and a spectacular send-off. The needs of each book were met in a balanced way, and the firing of all the Chekhov's Guns was incredibly satisfying. Most importantly, this final volume is emotional, smart, and the storytelling feels right even as you despair of the turn of events. This run of Journey Into Mystery comes highly recommended, for superhero fans, lapsed superhero fans, fantasy addicts, lovers of Young Adult fiction, and anyone who wants a lesson in how to write in a shared universe whilst telling a complete, comprehensive, and satisfying story.

Then, after reading this run, you can go straight onto reading Gillen/McKelvie/Norton/Wilson's Young Avengers. Conversely, if you've read Young Avengers, this run of comics gives the new series a completely different tenor.
