Reasonable third outing for Uthred. Certainly better than book two and kept me reading.

This one actually had some humor in it.  Seems that Uthred is more comfortable with himself.

I've recently re-read the first two novels since the airing of the TV series. I thought I've read this one, I can't remember it, not a jot....

I was ace! A rollicking rollercoaster of a dark age saga.

Yes, there some bits that were a bit far fetched, but it didn't suffer from it.

The combat scenes were believable, particularly the sheild-wall vignettes, capturing the monstrous, gritty ferocity of close-quarter combat.

On to Sword Song......

Such a fantastic book. Uhtred can annoy me sometimes with his inability to play it cool, even if its the smarter thing to do. But alas, he his a sword and not a brain and stays true to himself forever.

Can't. stop. reading.
