My only qualm is that these need to be longer and the stakes higher. The romance is a major plot point in this second book—which isn’t bad, but it puts pressure on the writer to truly deliver in this category, and I’m not sure it met the mark. The romance is extremely fast-paced and repetitive at times. The three MCs are different and yet each react very similarly to Alina to the point that they blend together, their scenes following almost the exact same formula. It does not make the reading experience that enjoyable when there is little development in other areas of the plot.
