I went into this thinking it would be a fun, spicy vampire why choose and BOY. OH, BOY - I’m loving the plot.
Honestly the way the author writes Alina and her struggles is so freaking realistic. I can see how she won’t be for everyone but I respect the way she tries to balance her desire for vengeance with everything that’s getting in her way.
Alina is also freaking hilarious.
I’m still loving the broody vampire professor but there is a third male entering the why choose who I’m majorly eyeballing.

I really like Alina, and the growth she goes through in this book is great.
Love the writing style.

Alina! Gosh I love this series. Alina is growing as a vampire and we get to see how her relationship with Linc, Andrei, and Drake changes in book 2. There was a lot that happened during a short time and look forward to see where this series is flinf next!
I had to shelve this as a DNF at about 55%. I went back to see my review of the first one, and none of the issues I had in the first book were resolved in this one. After reading another dope Van Helsing retelling/inspired by, this one just wasn't doing it for me and felt too YA, even with the spicy scenes. This was maybe asking too much since it's set on a secondary school campus, but I've definitely read academic romances that were written in more of an NA style.
It's definitely an easy read...I got halfway done in a couple hours, so it's probably perfect for the beach or plane or anywhere else where you don't need to be too invested in the plot. If you really liked the first book, including the FMC, by all means, read this one, because I'm sure you'll enjoy it! It just didn't overcome enough of the obstacles for me.

I’d forgotten how much I’d liked the first book in this series until I started this latest, the second book in the series. Alina is such both a strong and a naïve character. For how much living she’s done, she sure can be a little too innocent about things, and she can be a little bit wishy-washy. In this one, we get to see her love interests a little bit more in-depth, and I must say one really, really annoyed me at the end of this book. I can’t say much because I don’t want to spoil it, but dang it. He really irritated me at the end. All that aside, t his was a good addition to the series, and I can’t wait to see what happens next. Recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
