Queer lady biker is a story I didn't know I needed but I definitely need more of now. It reminded me of Paper Girls and Steven Universe but more violent/gritty.
I think I've found a new favorite!!!
Let me clarify this a little because I thought this was about an all-female biker gang (it's not). It's still effin' brilliant though.
This is about a girl who is a racer (officially and also secretly street racer). She is kickass and brutal and I LOVE HER. However, the racing isn't the main subject of this series, it's more of the means of getting things done and continuing the plot. It's more about an illegal substance called "crush" (those awesome little pink gems were beautifully drawn). The crush helps to enhance racer's bikes BUT our main character has a secret of her own that she uses the crush for.
BY THE WAY, THERE'S HINT AT A MIXED F/F ROMANCE!!!!!!!!!!! (incoherent squealing of joy)
I will say, it took me a few pages to understand the story because there are a lot of graphics (besides the beautiful art) and I hadn't realized it was taking place in the future. After that, I was hooked.
I especially loved the street racing scenes and seeing the different biker gangs.
My biggest complaint is that the woman seemed way overly sexualized in this comic. There is a lot of skin showing for street racing (why would I wear basically booty shorts and a bra if there's a chance I'm hitting pavement at 100 miles per hour?) It was distracting that it felt unrealistic, but I did love their style.

This graphic novel was sooooooo good! I hate to say it, but I don’t remember who I saw talking about this book, but I’m so glad it ended up on my radar because WOW. A black motocross rider, a drug that should only work on machines, debts, secrets, ALIENS??!! Yes this book had it all. I read the entire volume in one night. The illustrations were beautiful and I loved the main character Domino. If you’ve never picked this up, I’d definitely recommend it.
I bought the Motor Crush comics as they were being released and LOVED the story! Such a clever premise and fantastic world building - I immediately bought into the story. I also loved the various characters and found even the minor ones to be intriguing. The MC, Domino, is super cool and I loved getting to follow her. (Also, I loved the representation of queer women!) This has been a comic that I definitely plan on sticking with and I am so curious to see where it goes.
