Another banger in the Boyce catalog. This woman has yet to miss!
I didn’t love this as much as I love her more recent work, but it was so cute and rather complex and nuanced despite also being so easily read and mentally digested. It feels like a cows cud in the best way? I can chew and swallow, or I can munch a little longer and get even more depth of flavor. It’s really a mastery of storytelling to me, to write something this way, where it doesn’t force mental engagement but if you choose to ponder you have a real wealth of human psychology to mine.

I listened to this book in one sitting on a very long flight. It was a cutie little YA romance read. I honestly don't remember a thing, but I do remember having a swell time!
Mungkin gue bisa kasih nilai 4.75 krn betapa begonya Ellie yg gak bisa jadi diri sendiri di deket Will dan gmna selalu dia yg coba ngertiin cwonya.
But,she still a teenager. Jadi gue paham. Umur² segitu emang lagi bego²nya.
Judulnya emang MEH tapi ceritanya SERUUUU. Gue suka persahabatan Ellie,Sage,Dev,Huan. Mereka bertiga ngasih dampak positif buat Ellie buat mau belajar. Mereka juga gak judgie sama hobi 'aneh'nya.
Karakter Sage di sini SANGAT mengingatkan sama Kim Sabi. Mana sama² rambutnya pendek dan tertarik sama ilmu kedokteran.
Awalnya gue mikir,Sage bakal dingin,mean,susah dideketin. But well well well.
Meskipun gue gak tertarik sama hubungan percintaan Ellie x Will (gak ada chemi-nya),tapi gue suka Sage x Dev. Although they're not endgame.
Jujur,gue SHOCK sih. Tapi gmna penulis ngebangun benih² cinte antara Dev x Ellie itu patut diacungi jempol. It feels natural.

This book is actually perfect for when you want to relax and not take things too seriously, but ironically, it's the FMC who ends up stressing you out instead HAHAHAHA.
It's such an adorable and cozy read, and it really helped me get out of my reading slump. The pacing isn’t too intense or too fast, and the language is light and enjoyable. I genuinely felt relaxed while reading it.
But like most romance books, there are moments where the FMC's actions make you shake your head, so you can’t help but feel a bit frustrated as you read. And the ending felt a bit rushed, some parts seemed like they were cut off suddenly, and before you know it, you're already in a completely different scene. It was a little jarring to see how quickly things shifted from the beginning to the end.
Still, overall, I have to say this book is cozy and absolutely adorable hehe.
